Let's Talk About Labdanum Brut
I was in the Brioni store earlier today and saw the set of four fragrance bottles and was told that they are the new Brioni fragrances released this week. Of course, I sprayed each on the tester strips and was disappointed that 3 of the 4 are really better suited for spring/summer and it was barely 45 degrees outside and was going to get colder not warmer in the immediate. I left 3 of them there to revisit in a few months. Labdanum Brut however left with me because this is definitely a good fragrance for cooler weather. It's not a heavy or thick fragrance, but it says clearly that it can hold it's own when the temperature drops.
Of course, I got it because I really like this stuff, but unlike the four Brioni fragrances that preceded this set, these are expensive, I mean Louis Vuitton, Tom Ford perfumes expensive. It's going to be a minute before this makes it to the discounters, I'm sure.
This juice feels like real sophistication. Right from the beginning, you get a creamy, smooth musk that's velvety and intense. Next is a subtle leathery vibe, not sure where it comes from but it's there for sure and gives it depth and a warm amber quality that's a bit animalic. The Bulgarian rose is rich and liqueur like, tempered by rosemary that helps keep it fresh. For the finish...Vanilla wraps everything in a soft powdery embrace. I will have to live with this stuff for a little while but as of now given the 5 plus hours I've had it, it's a definite winner!
Bottom Line, if you're into scents that are bold yet refined, this one is one you'll want to discover.
