Brioni Brioni 2023 Eau de Parfum Essentiel

Brioni Essentiel is yet another (3rd I've tested so far) that comes across as a classy and distinguished masculine fragrance. The OG has a really nice violet note, Intense is fruity with an underpinning of oud while Essentiel is more woody with a strong, musky patchouli and a smooth incense base. I did not detect any tomato note. To me, it's pretty versatile - working in formal occasions and also during leisure time.

Performance of Essentiel is the best of the three I've tried. Sillage is about arms length for a good 2 to 3 hours while the longevity was about 9 hours for me, at which point is was a very mild skin scent. Overall though, Essentiel gives a moderate impression - not overpowering or dominating a room. Would work in close quarters and in the office. While it's nice, like it's two other brothers, it's a bit tame for me.

An almost perfect illustration of why all-natural perfumery is so difficult to pull off. Essentiel smells of all the nice plants one would expect to find in a fougere. It smells perfectly nice, but it is entirely without form or structure. All the notes collapse into a vaguely green soup with almost no separation or dynamism. Feels like all the bones were removed and one can no longer make out what the different pieces were originally meant to say.
Don't get me wrong, for a modern masculine, this is quite nice, but even some small structural supports would have worked wonders here

I wasn’t expecting anything when I sprayed this sample. Other Brionis didn’t do much for me, and I hadn’t read any reviews. But within a minute I caught this refined, almost elite vibe, "divine forest" that’s hard to break down into notes.

I thought, wow, I need a full bottle. Then just 45 minutes later it was almost gone. One of the weakest performers I’ve tried. Improve the performance and I’d gladly pay two times the current price.

The green machine. Hyper masculine, classic aromatic feel with the mossy, earthy, woody accords forming a refined, herbal profile.

There's a good amount of spice in the opening as well, I assume the cardamom.

Versatile for all seasons, but probably best in spring and fall, as I could see it becoming cloying in high heat. It's best dressed up, but may be worn anytime

Perhaps someone still remembers my review of "Brioni (Eau de Parfum Intense) | Brioni." Back then, I had already been eyeing the "Brioni (Eau de Parfum Essentiel) | Brioni," but I decided on the #brioni because I got the matching shower gel for the same price.

I do not regret the purchase, but the green Brioni stayed on my mind and I had to get it as well.

By now, it is also in my possession, as I was convinced by this green, citrusy freshness combined with the patchouli. Wonderfully deep and with coniferous vibes.

With "tomato leaf," I associate basil, even though it is only about the leaf of the tomato. At least, one can locate a slightly green note in the scent.

Furthermore, the familiar and welcome triad alongside the patchouli, sandalwood, and rather light incense is noticeable, giving this EdP a light vital vibe.

In the dry down, it becomes soft and unobtrusive thanks to the tonka bean, while the citrus still shines through a bit.

However, one thing does irritate me a bit. At the spray head, Brioni Eau de Parfum Essentiel comes across as very powerful and highly ingenious for me, accordingly like a 10/10.
In the air, on the skin, or on clothing, it seems to lose a lot of its power, and in my opinion, the tonka bean could have been omitted, allowing the citrus-fresh part to be extended.

Thus, you have an overall citrusy, fresh, spicy, woody, and truly elegant scent that is not easily comparable to other creations and works excellently in spring/summer.
