A Fabulous Woody Anti-Powerhouse Scent from the Past With A Perplexing Bottle...
Nemo opens with a walnut-like accord, mixed with nutmeg and cardamom spices deftly blended using a very subtle implementation. Just detectable underneath the light spices is an initially supporting cedar incense that grows stronger as the scent enters its heart phase eventually becoming the star. The woody incense is joined by a slightly sweet labdanum and supporting patchouli tandem. During the dry-down, the labdanum grows as the woody incense diminishes; giving the dry-down a resinous amber quality that dominates the now relative skin scent. Projection is below average and longevity is average.

Nemo is an incredible scent, plain and simple. I expected an 80s crude and bold powerhouse type of scent (even though Nemo was released in the late 90s), and instead got a very subtle well-blended and highly polished lightly spiced woody incense and labdanum driven scent that is much less sweet than many other have indicated, just enough to effectively soften its already smooth nature even further. The amber-like dry-down really sneaks up on you as the transition between the cedar and the labdanum is handled exceptionally well. The bottom line is this is an outstanding composition by Jean Bethouart that should never have been discontinued. While prices for the limited remaining stock are increasing by the day, Nemo is definitely worth the investment, earning a stellar rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 and an easy "buy" recommendation.

A vintage jewel
One of my all time favorite designer fragrances, period.

This is a fairly unique blend of warm spices, lavender, woods, resins, florals, and leather that is seemlessly blended, and I mean SEEMLESSLY. This hails from ye olden days of perfumery, before all this "Santal & Vetiver" or "Oud & Rose" nonsense. You are presented a luxuriously spiced accord in which only a few notes in particular stand out, revealing themselves more and more as the fragrance evolves. In the opening, I predominantly get a bright (I almost describe it as "holographic") lavender, deftly woven with cardamom, nutmeg, and "betel pepper" (whatever that is). The opening is ever-so-slightly fresh, aromatic, and what could even be described as "blue" before "blue" came about. However as time goes on, the aromatic nature of the opening subsides and is superceded by the warm richness of the heart and base. The woods, vanilla, resins, and leather come to the fore, though the lavender still "glows" gently through the haze, the beating heart of the fragrance. Hours and hours later, you get wafts of warm, spicy, vanillic lavender deliciousness as the fragrance enters its long drydown.

This is an absolutely wonderful, versatile, longlasting, and compliment getting fragrance that could easily be released today and STILL be a hit. It hardly smells dated at all to my nose, despite drawing comparisons to other warm-spicy classics from the 90s and early 2000s. Yes, it does smell like Viktor&Rolf Antidote (or rather, Antidote smells like Nemo), but Antidote is markedly dryer, more powdery, and more incense-based than Nemo. When I smell Antidote I imagine an aristocrat going to the opera, or perhaps an alchemist scrounging for secrets in dusty tomes. Nemo is far more easy-going, casual, and friendly than Antidote imo, though I wouldn't say that either is superior. I do get shades of Gucci Envy, D&G By Man or even D&G Pour Homme, but Nemo stands apart, in my humble opinion.

Performance is exceptional, though not too loud or obnoxious; you simply have a perfect scent bubble around you with arm's length sillage that lasts throughout the day. The presentation is super unique and interesting, one more relic of a more adventurous and creative time, when companies were willing to take risks in order to make something truly special and memorable.

I cannot fathom (heh) why this fragrance was discontinued by Cacharel. This is stunning stuff that is worth seeking out, even if you never smelled it in the past (I surely didn't, and I love it all the same). Nemo is yet another reminder of the beauty and quality that designer houses were capable of producing just 20 years ago. I cringe every time I spray it on (I just have a 30ml bottle), but I simply can't help myself, especially when the leaves begin to change and the air is crisp. This is one of those perfect fragrances to spray on when you're suited and booted for the cold and ready for a night on the town.

10/10, for me.

nice masculine!
variation on the theme of 90s fougeres in which the most common amber or tonka base is replaced with leather notes. very spicy, pungent and aromatic with that shower gel note given by dihydromycenol that amplifies the aromatic/fresh effect; to be clear, that showergel scent like Jazz, Ungaro I, Dakkar Noir and company. It remains very aromatic and "sparkling" throughout the duration (not epochal but just right).
Anyway it's a nice perfume, maybe it doesn't make you shout for a miracle because, at least to my nose, it's a bit of a puzzle of those classic 90s scents or so, but it's nice. Very masculine, indeed, decidedly masculine and I think it can be worn almost all year round, except for the height of summer when it might not be fresh enough. promoted by!

Totem
It's a perfume so hard to describe! Let's start with the bottle, very particular, certainly not go unnoticed, a big Y, it almost looks like an Indian Totem, with the chrome ball-shaped spray, marbles so fashionable in the 90s. I always wanted to smell it but I never had the opportunity, then seeing the prices on the internet I had to wait for the deal to make it mine.
I remember that in the commercial there were so many guys, so I always imagined it as a perfume for the young age but I was wrong, this is a great perfume wearable by everyone. This fragrance has different elements, but the one that stands out the most are the spices, it opens with pepper, a lot of nutmeg, lavender and leather, a sort of mineral notes, accompanied by woody hints, with a very "classic" and solid base, made from cedar and patchouli. The modern intro blends in great with the base, the spices, the floral sweetness and the sea breeze very well accompany the final woodiness, making it a unique perfume. Sweetness reminds me a little of JPG hurts. I have to say a lot about the 2000s, especially the opening brings to mind the videos on MTV, the first CompactDiscs, the first mobile phones, the boyband, the first videogames.
Average projection and longevity, a beautiful sweet, sticky and basically aquatic essence remains on the skin.
Today it is unacceptable, if you find it as a remnant in some store, buy it without delay, I recommend, those with the Y shape

Nemo found
Everyone will probably have their own associations with the name Nemo. Some, of course, immediately think of the eponymous captain from Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", others of the small A "NEMO "nen fish, which is lost. In any case, both figures have something quite maritime.

This theme, however, fits less to the character of the fragrance as well as the flacon, which reminds me personally of a Y-chromosome (there others can again interpret a divining rod or with enough imagination a peace sign or with even more creativity an incomplete tetrapod as a breakwater).

This Nemo comes across in any case in no way aquatic but rather woody-spicy with a neat load of cardamom. After a few seconds, you think you perceive something shower gel, but shower gel in good! In between, an appealing mixture of lavender, nutmeg, patchouli, a little resinous notes and a subtle hint of leather plus a touch of cinnamon.

The whole wonderfully masculine, but is increased again by a refined punctuiert used sweetness, where it can not be located directly, whether it is floral or fruity origin. I think if one would write now, for example, pineapple or berry, that one or the other actually believes those to sniff.
With this quality, one would like to dive deeper into the fragrance and wishes demententsprechend even more durability and projection, although there is enough of both.

Ad hoc I can not think of anything comparable, but one hears a successful symbiosis of classic 70 / 80s fragrances and current creations. If necessary, it helps one further, when one imagines Z-14 of Halston with additional nobler woody and spicy nuances. Thus, Nemo was indeed ahead of its time and it is one of the mysteries why it was discontinued so quickly.
It should not be due to the content, because Nemo is still quite in demand among aficionados. One could assume that Cacharel as a brand has no great appeal just in terms of men's fragrances and the Y flacon polarizes, because it seems too progressive and / or too shaky. Means: apparently not even so many have dealt with the fragrance in depth, otherwise it would certainly be better known and still in the program today.

There was a time the 1990s were about sweet spiciness, Gucci Envy included. Enjoy the times gone bye.
