Dunes Carry Floral Garlands..

... on misty-warm autumn days! Sandalwood rises from the depths and envelops everything in resinous spice. If I didn't know better, because I just applied a dab from the original mini, I would think of Dune Eau de Toilette in its vintage edition. Delicate and subtle, yet still perceptible for a long time. A fragrance love that has long been present for me. After all, I have emptied 3 "Dune" bottles over the years. All with slight differences. Still wonderful today. However, I would prefer the "Madame Charrier" to that one.
Why? The question is quite justified... because the "Charrier" emphasizes that mysterious atmosphere even more than its counterpart!
The truly authentic sandalwood makes a significant difference. And the finely tuned other fragrance notes make it almost mystical. That delicate powderiness, approaching, then receding again, this beautiful radiance of spicy roses, overshadowed by the coolness of "green" jasmine. And the earthiness of "ripe" patchouli, which grounds the sweetness of ylang-ylang without dulling its fascination.
A fragrance that sends delightful shivers down my spine... now I wonder which fragrance came first... the one from Dior or the one from "Charriol"... A class of its own ;-))

Not Strenuous

As I gather from the price comparisons here, "Madame Charrier" can only (still) be purchased in a miniature bottle. A nice scent very much in the style of fragrances like "Haldimann, Mon Amour" or even "Floris, Soulle Ámbar." And yet, "Madame Charrier" differs in several ways from these scents.
"Madame Charrier" is a very nice, pleasant almost-Chypre. In any case, I am not sure about its classification as a Chypre. Because "Madame Charrier" is too tame for my nose.
"Madame Charrier" starts off quite woody, herbaceous, and bitter smelling. Then comes the aquatic mandarin scent that I always perceive simultaneously, which weakens significantly over the course of this fragrance. Mandarin, in my experience, reduces the sillage and longevity of a fragrance while making it lighter and cheerier.
After that, a fine floral blend blooms with a distinctly sweet-herb-woody gorse scent. Now the aldehydes also join in with a slight soapy quality, and subtle sandalwood makes the scent creamy. But then there is also the very specific mastic scent, nutty, pleasantly creamy, light green. Mastic is supported by other balsamic resins. The vanilla notes are unnecessary. The delicate hints of a fine floral patchouli that I perceive here and there give the light base of "Madame Charrier" a touch of substance. "Madame Charrier" remains a soft, quiet, and gentle scent, close to the body, with longevity and sillage that I would classify as between mediocre and weak. A distinctly feminine fragrance.
