A Stale Cup of Tea
As far as tea fragrances go, I've never had any big expectations from them. It kind of goes without saying that such type of scents would turn out rather weak, inoffensive, and ultimately boring. Wūlóng Chá Extrait de Parfum, however, proved me wrong, showing me there's more to a tea-centric fragrance than meets the eye. And so, I came to Colognisé hoping I'd meet another soothing cup of tea. But all I got was a stale (albeit qualitative) cold cup.

The opening feels like a generous squeeze of effervescent citruses in your cup of herbal green tea, with a realistic zesty lemon being the most prominent. The grapefruit adds a hint of tangy sweetness, while a clear sweet, floral jasmine starts to show. The green tea aroma is not as strong as I'd like, but it is definitely enough to be easily identifiable.

Once the citruses settle down and the cup of tea starts getting cold, white florals take over, with the already mentioned jasmine being paired with a clean and slightly soapy lily of the valley. They both create a pleasing soft, delicate, floral freshness with remaining hints of citruses from the opening; hard to hate, but it's also not something to phone home about.

The base brings some clean muskiness along with a lively neroli, adding more to the white floral structure, reminiscent of orange blossom with its orangey/citric attributes. The vetiver takes a very good while to show itself, and when it does, it doesn't take center stage. It adds a lightly grassy earthiness which is very inoffensive; seemingly made for people who can't stand vetiver. Overall, the only thing that saves Colognisé in my eyes is its raw material quality and blending. But as the scent itself, it feels very simplistic and a little stale, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as many people appreciate and prefer such compositions.

With all that in mind, I expected performance to be terrible. And in terms of projection, it is one of, if not the softest Nishane I have yet tested. But as for longevity, that musk-neroli-vetiver base managed to push the scent to about 6-7 hours on my skin, instead of the 4-5 hours I expected. Projection did not take such a turn, and it proved to be pretty mild, with about a one foot bubble around me for the first 30-60 minutes, then turning more intimate and becoming a skin scent after about 3-4 hours.

One good thing does come out of all of this - versatility. And unless you want to stick out and invade people's noses, Colognisé is really hard to fault. As wearable as it gets; wear whenever, wherever.

Apart from someone who really appreciates softer, inoffensive, delicate tea scents or someone who can afford to get Colognisé as a gift for someone who's not really into fragrances (blind-buy safe), I don't see any other reason to get Colognisé. It's just your regular pleasant yet unimpressive fragrance. If you want a more distinct tea fume, then Wūlóng Chá Extrait de Parfum or maybe I-III Russian Tea are more worth considering. Sure, Wūlóng Chá Extrait de Parfum is significantly more expensive than Colognisé ($150 vs $250), but if you can't justify paying that much, then I don't think Colognisé offers any better value for money.

Clean green becomes spicy masculine-leaning
Colognisé starts with a fresh whiff of green tea, a note I truly adore, accompanied by bright jasmine and uplifting zesty citruses. It's not something that has never been done before, but I did like the overall accord at the beginning and I wished it had stayed longer. After awhile, there's a powdery grapefruit that jumps in, turning the perfume into a fruity, clean and soapy scent. It stays light and fresh, but with an added tinge of green coming in from the white florals. The green accord becomes stronger on my skin as time passes while citruses fade away. I thought the dry down was going to be a warm and green floral scent, but unexpectedly, vetiver started to grow stronger. It became so strong that it crushed the floral note underneath it. The drydown became this solid block of green spiciness with a hint of citruses and the shadows of the florals that once were. If the beginning, with its freshness and white florals, leaned feminine (or unisex) to me, the drydown leans fully masculine, like a men’s spicy cologne. The bottom notes is the reason I won't be getting another bottle and will be trying to sell the one I have.

Overall it's not bad, but for the price it ain't it. I was fortunate to get it during Boxing Day at 75$ off with an added discount of 15%. I find the sillage and longevity quite weak for something so expensive and I have other perfumes in my collection that have better performance than this one (and they don't lean as masculine).

Weirdly not a freshie, but lovely and sweet
This is lovely. I don’t think of it as a freshie, despite the citrus; to me it’s more of a pretty floral. There’s a sweet delicate jasmine and a little neroli in the drydown. I don’t really get much lily of the valley at all, but the base is nicely rounded out and warmed with some musk and vetiver. Really pretty and pleasant.

Father figure
This was a relatively safe blind, as it's a genre I usually tend to like.

Although it has all the hallmarks of a cologne, I would highlight the opening, which I think is the best part of this perfume, with a remarkable citrus harmony. This olfactory paradise only lasts a few minutes, however, and we soon enter a base that I would say has a more animal touch, probably due to a good dose of ambroxan in the composition. I would say that from a light, citrusy, floral and aromatic opening, we move to a more ambroxan base, which therefore lingers for a long time, but in this more animalic register.

I've never had a negative reaction to it on my skin, although some people complain that it makes them sweat.

I remember my sister saying that this perfume smelled like a father.

It seems to me to be a fragrance to enjoy, especially on hot summer days.

Classic Turkish Summer Cologne
If you like citrics, tea notes and green perfumes, I'm pretty sure you'll love Nishane Colognise. But careful, because there's another Colognise from Nishane that is saffron-centered and doesn't have the same peppy freshness or appeal like this one. Colognise is not a complicated scent, but it's awesome for summer. It tries to bring back the classic Turkish colognes that you would run into everywhere in Istanbul in the form of wet napkins at the baklava shops, small bottles of disinfectant which used to be free on buses, or those classic colognes you could buy in Turkish pharmacies. Maybe it sounds pretty ordinary, but for me this brings on nostalgia for summer vacations in Turkey. It reminds me of a more masculine version of Chanel's Cristalle Eau Verte, but as a woman I love wearing this, too.

PS-I think the reviewers who are complaining of this as not being fresh or being too animalic are most likely writing about the other version of Colognise, the one with saffron. Pretty dumb marketing both these fragrances with the same name and bottle design.

Mild, grassy green tea aroma with a squeeze of lemon and slightly sweet grapefruit. Smooth white florals support; faint musk/neroli finisher

Grapefruit and lemon, with white flowers and green tea. Fresh and aromatic. A creamy musk in the drydown. A Safran Colognisé for the summer.

Fresh & white floral with mild touches of citrusy-green, very classic Acqua di Parma-esque scent profile. Performance is light as water.

What a lovely fragrance, citrusy start, sultry aromatic white florals, almost spicy. Versatile. I'm cautious around white florals but done well here.

Love the Neroli & green tea combo. Comes across as pretty green & the vetiver brings a lovely grassiness. Citrusy but not in your face.

Nice lemony green tea scent, but the amount of sprays I had to use to even smell it at all was too much, gone completely after couple hours.

Fruity green tea, especially lemon. Gentle florals and moss come in as it dries down. Not remotely similar to its flanker, Safran Colognise.

Lovely concept of strengthening cologne-like profiles and does it exceptionally. Pales a bit compared to Safran Colognisé but both lovely.

Starts fresh and tangy with green tea and citruses. Turns soapy and green with the white florals. Ends up too spicy ‘cause of the vetiver.

Pleasant, soft, uplifting scent. Great to wear in the morning to ease into your day. Nice, inoffensive scent bubble with 5 sprays (neck, arms, chest)
