Alpine Lake in a Bottle
What It Is: Listerine on a bed of sun-baked pine needles near the shore of an alpine lake. This is the most photorealistic pine needle fragrance I've ever smelled - by a wide margin. Opens with a blast of "wake up!" eucalyptus which then dries down into sappy warm sugar pines. There's an aquatic accord somewhere and I don't get much rose, but it's beautifully blended with a nice deep green sensation (if you associate colors with fragrances like I do).
Who It's For: You like - and pay for - original art. You want to capture the smell of a summer hike in an evergreen forest. You know this will not be a daily driver or "clubbing banger," but something you will wear to gallery openings where the avant garde is normalized & appreciated.
Alternatives: None. In 200+ fragrances, nothing I've smelled comes close. Diptyque's Philosykos is your next best bet for a "green" woodsy scent, but that's a fig tree, not a pine.
