The Bride Was in Fur
A wedding fragrance by Elie Saab promised a grand spectacle: radiant white flowers, a sunny ylang, and, above all, a beautiful abundance of amber to seal it all in a golden aura. An elegant, luminous sillage, almost sacred… at least in theory.
In the midst of this immaculate gown, an animalistic note emerges, a wild imprint that disturbs the ceremony. Not just a gentle, caressing musk, no, but a more primal, organic presence that slips under the veil. It’s not entirely unpleasant, and some may even see it as a sensual charm, a carnal touch in this sea of purity. But for me, the scent of “beasts” in a perfume is a step I don’t take.
Bridal could have been a resplendent bride, but instead, it evokes a fur coat draped over a lace dress. A troubled beauty, a little too animal for my taste.
