Interesting Facts

Aurélien Guichard is a renowned perfumer whose life has been shaped by an early passion for the art of fragrance creation. Born and raised in Grasse on the Côte d'Azur, Guichard still lives and works in Provence, France.

His career began in 2000 when he joined the school of renowned Swiss perfume manufacturer Givaudan. After three years of training, he joined the company and spent a total of 14 years developing his expertise in the field of fragrances.

Guichard took his first steps as a perfumer back in 2003, when he developed his first popular fragrance, Aqua Allegoria Anisia Bella for Guerlain. This marked the beginning of a series of further creations, including fragrances such as Eros by Versace, Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez, and My Name by Trussardi.

In 2014, Guichard decided to take on new challenges and joined the equally renowned Swiss company Firmenich. There, he made his mark by creating fragrances such as Armani Privé - Bleu Turquoise by Giorgio Armani, or, together with perfumer Honorine Blanc, Wonderlust by Michael Kors, at Firmenich.

Guichard, who had already been a farmer since 2015, founded the Chautard agricultural business in 2016, an organic farm (Ecocert) in Tourrettes (Var), in the Grasse region. Drawing on family and regional expertise, he grows Rosa centifolia and tuberoses for his fragrance creations on an exceptional terroir that was recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2018.

In 2018, a new chapter began for Guichard when he signed a contract with the Japanese specialty chemicals company Tagasako. This opportunity enabled him to launch his own perfume brand, Matière Première, in 2019.
