Civilized and pleasant
Bought a second bottle for my boyfriend, who is not much into 'perfumes' and really doesn't want me to spent much on fragrances for him...
I had quite a difficult time finding something not expensive and still nice.
And this, he actually likes: Not too sweet, not too strong, but still noticable in a good, decent way.
I like it a lot too! I find it very fresh, but not 'mainstream' fresh, there's a kind of 'Italian' vibe in this fragrance that I really love.
I wonder why this scent get such low ratings. I know many, more expensive scents for men (because my brothers do like perfumes :-)) and this can compete with many in my opinion.
I also don't understand the low ratings for sillage...did people actually ask if others can smell it on them? Because I can smell my boyfriend from quite a distance when he wears this. Longevity on him is moderate (4 to 6 hours).
I don't find it too citrusy, you can smell that the citrusy notes are not from actual citrus, but from bergamot, mandarin/orange and grapefruit, which I always prefer over actual citrus (also when wearing more citrusy scents myself).
I love the bottle! I think it looks very expensive actually in that 'less is more' kind of way; old money, not new money :-). I love how the magnetic cap clicks upon the bottle and the bottle would look very nice in a barber shop.

Fresh Spicy Daily Driver
At this point, I would like to advocate for the many drugstore and celebrity fragrances.
Because honestly, it has surprised me for quite some time that these fragrances almost universally receive poor ratings.
This is not meant to be a bashing against niche or designer fragrances.

As a vetiver fan, I stumbled upon "Instinct" by David Beckham through a few YouTube reviews.
One of the noses behind this fragrance is "Béatrice Piquet".
She has created several fragrances that I appreciate, such as:
- L'instant de Guerlain pour Homme
- Jill Sander sun man
- Trussardi Uomo (1983)

For me, "Instinct" is an uncomplicated and straightforward fragrance.
Fresh, spicy with a certain creaminess from start to finish after about 5 hours on my skin.
It is not a revelation, but it does not overwhelm either, making it a good and affordable everyday scent.
The bottle is simple but made of solid glass with a kind of embossed diamond at the bottom.
The cap is held magnetically... and this is from a bottle made in 2005.

As mentioned at the beginning, it makes me a bit sad when such fragrances (for whatever reason) are rated so poorly.
I can recommend "Instinct" to anyone looking for a fresh-spicy daily driver for little money and who wants to take a sniff in this fragrance category.

An Impressive Budget Option
And I thought Bleu de Chanel was the first with a magnetic closure :) Beckham Instinct, just on offer at Rossmann - presents itself not only outwardly more expensive than it is, but the content of the nice little bottle also surprises for a drugstore scent from the commonplace Coty in that it neither smells cheap nor tasteless.

In brief, a wonderfully unsweet citrus/vetiver number that unfortunately - somewhere there had to be a catch - hardly lasts from twelve to noon. What can you do, for 13.50 (including shower gel) it can afford that.

If the manufacturer can now manage to stick the label straight on the bottle, one could almost believe Beckham's bluff.

David Beckham's "Instinct"
No matter how soothing his voice, how snobbish his wife, or how notorious his image - somehow David Beckham has never been unsympathetic to me. And despite the worldwide adoration and god-given beauty, he somehow remains down to earth, almost shy. At least, that's how he always came across to me. But despite the accumulated sympathy points, his fragrance "Instinct" from 2005 absolutely fails to impress me.

The headline may be harsh, but somehow this stuff really stinks to me. It's like a cheap and musty Dolce & Gabbana. Instinct is spicy, peppery, forcedly masculine, and striking - almost heading towards tobacco. The sweet notes don't come through at all, and only the vetiver holds its ground in terms of taste. Fragrances certainly don't always have to be sweet for me to like them - but here, the masculinity and toughness just feel cheap, clichéd, and poorly executed. It's close to the edge of being a stinker.

The bottle hardly gives away the low price, which is commendable. However, the longevity (max. 5 hours) and sillage are firmly in the low-price range.

This spicy banana flank completely misses the mark for me - what a shame, Becks!

No Goal!
I will try to avoid football wisdoms and instinct/stink jokes...

David Beckham's fragrance doesn't really convince me. At first contact, I thought, here comes Cologne water - a real hit of freshness, very nice.
But as soon as the initial scent settles and the perfume stabilizes, a subtle aroma emerges (at least in the tester) that I can't stand - I suspect it's the cardamom or the vetiver, or the combination of both. It may be well-intentioned, but in reality, a somewhat musty chlorine note comes through. And that's unfortunately it.
Admittedly, over time that fades away, and it remains a fairly fresh sports fragrance, but the development is quite clumsy.

A lovely, fresh and crisp scent whilst being synthetic in nature. Awesome price but poor performance. Overall it is fairly good.

Worth a try, smell is actually pretty good, fresh and well-balanced. However, longevity and sillage are even worse than cheap deodorant.

Vetiver with citrus notes and a bit of a shower gel vibe. Durability is just sufficient for a speed date

Very masculine, with terrrrrrible longevity and sillage.
Smells a bit like urine at some points.

Subtle fresh citrus, dominant grapefruit/ later a spicy-woody touch/ quite okay, but somehow it lacks that polish.

Citrusy-green-fresh-warm. A recommendable drugstore scent, that's how you can smell. Not for the overpowering crowd. It's good, affordable, and stylish.

Very fine citrus-fresh scent. I didn't expect it to be this good. Great bottle with a magnet on the cap, I like that. A summer fragrance.
