Unjustifiably Overlooked
There are days when I feel overwhelmed by everything. The view out the window brings me down. Storm and rain, now for days - or even weeks? It’s not getting bright either. On top of that, I’m wrestling with problems that would be very happy to find a solution… - in short: The winter blues have me firmly in their grip. And what irritates me: Not even my beloved winter powerhouse fragrances can provide me with comfort right now! On the contrary, they annoy me. Every morning I stand helplessly in front of my perfume chest: The strong ones are just too strong for me at the moment, the spring scents are still too fresh and/or too cool. No, I’m currently longing for something rather subtle, even slightly sweet and floral (!?!), that is uncomplicated, that I can wear during the day, that isn’t overwhelming, and that is pleasant for both my own and others’ noses. And since I know that this is just a “phase” that certainly won’t last too long, the fragrance should also not cost too much.

Amidst these considerations, I set my sights on Brilliant Wish. So I ventured out into the storm and tested it. Since the blue mother is far too sweet for me, I’ve never really engaged with the other Wish variants, although I find the bottles incredibly stylish. In any case, I took Brilliant Wish home after a brief test because I like it! However, I don’t perceive anything fruity, and from the flowers, I can only detect the violet, which is normally not my favorite flower in fragrances, but here I find it lovely. The scent is warm, soft, lightly woody-spicy with a moderate sweetness. It is noticeable, but overall rather subtle.

I think Brilliant Wish can be worn all year round; you can wear it for any occasion, and no one will be bothered by it. It’s not extraordinary, but definitely pleasant, just as I wanted. And since I had a voucher, it was also a bargain. It doesn’t matter if it gets swapped out for the powerhouses again soon. But spring will surely come again, and I’m confident that Brilliant Wish will shine particularly well then.

Suitcase dress, white blouse, and an essay on star jasmine.
A fresh breeze blows, slightly citrusy, with a minimal green touch in the opening. What a pleasant start! Soon, the freshness is underpinned with a good amount of violet leaf and a bit of friendly floral notes. I find no trace of berries. Instead, it becomes slightly powdery by minute three and gains a hint of sweetness. The fresh wind has calmed down. White blouse.

In the heart note, the herbaceous-spicy violet leaf intensifies and acquires a fine pencil note, similar to what I experienced in 65. 65 was the first fragrance where I liked violet leaf as a component. Although violet leaf also seems artificial to me in 65 and Brilliant Wish, it is soft and mild, despite being in the foreground, and not as biting as in other fragrances I have tested.
As Brilliant Wish progresses, violet leaf remains dominant but continues to soften, and the scent becomes slightly sweet.
Little black suitcase dress.

After about an hour and a half, a delicate hint of pleasant, naturally smelling vanilla appears, which slowly begins to announce the base.
It remains a whisper-thin, feather-light, soft, and friendly base of translucent musk with a touch of sweetness and the ever-diminishing remnants of the slightly herbaceous violet leaf.
White blouse.

After four to five hours, Brilliant Wish is almost gone.
Personally, I prefer this to a thick musk-amber blanket smothering my lungs for hours like in so many other fragrances.
I would rather forgo a longevity achieved with such means and spray again after five hours.
So far, so good.

After days of testing and gradually noting my perceptions, forming the above opinion on Brilliant Wish, and now wanting to write this comment, it occurred to me to perhaps check in advance what this capitalized star jasmine, unknown to me from fragrances so far, is all about. Because Brilliant Wish hardly seemed to smell like jasmine to me.

And then it began: First of all, according to Wikipedia, there are 15-20 species of star jasmine. And you can probably guess: they don't all smell the same.
Apparently, they don't even smell similar.
I found that the Mediterranean star jasmine smells like a mix of vanilla, rose, and citrus blossoms.
On one gardening site, I read that star jasmine smells like a mix of nutmeg, cloves, and real jasmine. On another gardening site, I read that it primarily smells sweet and otherwise like jasmine.
I probably could have found various other statements with more extensive research.
The only agreement was that star jasmine has star-shaped flowers and belongs to the dogbane family, meaning it is toxic.

Well. And now? Which star jasmine is it in Brilliant Wish? Or perhaps more accurately: Which one was meant, which was used as a scent reference for the accord?
The first one fits quite well: vanilla, rose, and citrus blossoms. However, I would place the citrus blossoms first. I didn't smell rose, but still something pleasantly floral. And since I often perceive accords intended to represent rose as undifferentiated floral, that could fit. A hint of vanilla would also be appropriate.
The second one was definitely not it: nothing reminds me of nutmeg, and cloves, at least spice cloves, but also garden carnations, do not come to mind. Well, I don't want to completely rule out a hint of jasmine, but overall, I believe the second option is out.
And the third? Sweet and jasmine. Brilliant Wish does become a bit sweet. But if there are any jasmine nuances, then definitely not as a main component. Is that enough to capitalize star jasmine in the pyramid? Unless the term star jasmine is just a flashy buzzword for a bit of jasmine below the perception threshold and some sugar, then no.

My conclusion about star jasmine: Here, according to my nose, the Mediterranean star jasmine is meant, which is supposed to remind one of citrus blossoms, rose, and vanilla.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the bottle is exceptionally beautiful. When looking from below, you first see the information embossed on the underside of the metal ring around the spray head, which in other perfumes is commonly printed on the bottom of the bottle. This fine yet legible writing in Brilliant Wish and the heavy glass design reminiscent of a brilliant cut give a very balanced and elegant impression.

I feel similarly about the scent:
Even though it is not a fragrance that elevates or divides the perfume world through provocation, innovations, or the most exquisite, rare ingredients, Brilliant Wish is a modern scent that is pleasant to wear, discreet and friendly, with moderate sillage, neither too sweet nor too floral nor too herbaceous, suitable for many occasions. In this respect, it is a bit like the little black suitcase dress that is worth having on hand, or like the white blouse.

Its limited longevity, which makes it easy to reach for a party shocker or niche hermit afterward, makes it a go-to in the best sense.

Simply brilliant, this Brilliant
There is nothing, absolutely nothing to criticize about "Brilliant Wish" (at least in my opinion).

It is

- fresh (the freshness lasts throughout the entire fragrance)
- fruity (but not in a way that makes you feel like you've fallen into a fruit basket)
- floral (but subtle, not overpowering like a whole bouquet)
- woody (discreet)
- elegant (not too much, can also be worn casually)
- light + substantial at the same time (hard to describe).

A scent that simply smells beautiful, a super blend where nothing stands out or disturbs. The ultimate universal fragrance, one that always fits.
Honestly, I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't like this scent (but tastes are known to differ). It will probably be very, very few.

Today I tried Brilliant Wish again, but I just can't grasp it: this scent eludes me again and again.

I have always had a covetous glance at Wish as well - the blue original in this incredibly beautiful bottle ;-) Unfortunately, it quickly became clear that we are not a match, way too sweet. In search of something lighter for summer, I stumbled upon Brilliant Wish, the golden sister. Interesting fragrance pyramid, encouraging comments, no price - it was allowed to move in. Since then, I've been trying to befriend it. A friendly, quite light scent wafts towards me. Flowers, gentle warmth, not too sweet. But I can't get much further.

I try to recognize it, to identify what makes it special, but it does not reveal itself to me. Brilliant Wish remains completely nonspecific for me, and it "evaporates" quickly as well. I can't even find it on my scarf (that usually works, scents don't stay on my skin for long). With each test, I have the impression that it's the first time; I can't remember it - no recognizability.

Brilliant Wish is for me the smell that surrounds me when I enter a perfume store. Essentially Douglas in a bottle. Cleopatra mentions in her comment: it doesn't hurt anyone. That's true, it's not unpleasant, but it also brings me nothing at all. What a pity, I would have liked to like you.

Navigates sharply past the triviality of aroma chemistry and manages to preserve a hint of individuality: Fruity Floral-Violet.

A peppery, floral little treasure. Uncomplicated and nice. Creamy powdery touch. Not banal. It doesn't always have to be niche!

I find it a bit woody-citrusy at first, before it blooms creamy. Indefinable freshness, quite pleasant. Wearable & feminine.

Sparkling-powdery sweet jasmine scent with a creamy-aromatic base. Subtle bitterness softens. Soft. Feminine. Optimistic. Elegant.

Warm, soft, creamy. Elegant, but not too elegant, and in a beautiful bottle. And affordable too - what more could you want?

Opposite of the normal Wish: Fresh, unobtrusive, slightly pencil-shavings, floral and cheerful. A very pleasant everyday scent.

Interesting musk, light woody, subtly creamy and floral.
Not particularly sweet. Doesn't have much in common with the original scent for me.
