Perfect for oud beginners, the gentle giant
An oud fragrance with such a lousy rating (as of: 10.11.2020), from one of my favorite fragrance manufacturers ?
I have to try it out on principle
And don't worry, I don't rate this fragrance so well out of defiance, hype or blind love.
I am simply impressed how Demeter/The Library of Fragrance manages to put memories into fragrances or to depict individual scents.
Yeah, that has gone down the drain quite a few times from my point of view (Pizza, gag, Christmas in New York, eww, Sour Apple Lollipop, goose)
However, I have already discovered many a pearl.
Since everyone is talking about oud, it is obvious that TLOF would like to launch such a fragrance as a so-called single-scent scent.
In Demeter's interpretation, "Oud" is a very soft, sweet-warm wood note with a spicy twist.
I mean a nice pinch of cinnamon to scent
All of this on a subtle level. This does not mean that we are dealing with a weakling. On the contrary. The durability is phenomenal for an EdC.
I mean, not getting slaughtered here like some other oud perfume.
Especially Tom Ford's Oud fragrances have it partly really in itself.
Even Olivier's "Oud Touch", can be a pain in the ass almost all day long.
This is definitely not to be found here. "Oud" is very soft, almost unisex.
The response from female testers was great and the range on the right from "smells like Christmas cookies" to "but that's a pleasantly sweet wood scent"
And that's exactly how I categorize "oud".
It is independent enough, the oud smell is clearly perceptible.
But he just feels cuddly warm
The Sillage is well perceptible within a radius of 2 meters and is described as pleasant.
In any case, the fragrance is suitable for the cool to cold days.
I don't think I would have paid the full price of 20 Euro for the 30 ml, it's not exceptional enough for that but my 120 ml for under 16 Euro was a real snap
On offer, you can definitely try it out.
My opinion: Yes, ratings are always highly subjective and I am of course entitled to everyone's opinion but what "Oud" deserves such a bad rating is a mystery to me
Even if it is not ultra high quality, it is a small and fine beginner oud with few rough edges but a lot of heart
