how steam smells
I've tried quite a few of the Demeter fragrances. While some of them completely fail to interest me, some of them are so shockingly like a real world smell or experience that I feel like I've put on some virtual reality helmet.
Steam Room is one of the virtual reality ones. I love the smell of eucalyptus, which is sometimes used in a way that suggests dryness and desert (as it is, for instance, in CK Contradiction). Steam Room, on the other hand, stuns me with its portrayal of a white-tiled room full of scented steam. When you go into a steam room, you have to pause for a moment to see through the steam and find a place to sit. Then, after a minute or so, you find your nostrils flaring - it's as if your respiratory system is trying to take it all in so as to clean out all the little molecules of dirt inside your nose and lungs. Steam Room gives me this same involuntary reaction, as though I were feeling the steam as well as the eucalyptus.
I'm mystified as to what else could be in here that causes this feeling(listed ingredients are alcohol, fragrance, and water). But I love the sense it gives me that my airways are completely open and clean. Nicely done, Demeter!
