An extremely animalistic oud fragrance
When I applied Emperor's Court, I immediately thought of oud bombs from Ensar Oud or Areej Le Doré. If you like their fragrances, you should take a sniff here. Personally, I find the fragrance quite okay. It lasts around 10 hours on my skin and I would describe the sillage as good.
An animalic oud aroma immediately emerges in the top note. It also smells sweet but also citrusy like bergamot. The eaglewood remains in the heart note, but is accompanied by floral notes that remind me of rose water, jasmine blossom and ylang-ylang. Saffron adds a certain oriental touch to the fragrance. The base is very complex and sometimes a little too bulky. At times, the scent is both strong and animalistic like oud, then smoky like myrrh, opoponax and frankincense, then sweetish like ambergris, benzoin, bourbon vanilla and musk. Aromas of tobacco, earthy oakmoss, patchouli, labdanum and some sandalwood also resonate.
For my nose, this tends to be a somewhat overloaded olfactory experience. But the Emperor's Court is sure to find its fans. Once again, I would like to thank Nick for the bottling.
