Hot plum brandy
Cologne has always been one of the German capitals for perfume - not necessarily at the moment when it comes to business, where the forbidden city north of the Rhine is clearly ahead, but rather when it comes to perfume creations, from 4711 to Farina. With "Cologne Xtreme", Duftwerk is now contributing another exclamation mark to this series of Cologne fragrances. I bought it in the wonderful, cosy, clear, new niche shop SF Parfume History in the small Budengasse of Cologne's old town. Hides well worth a visit for any perfume lunatic.
"Cologne Xtreme" is not a classic cologne. More like a sharp, biting, modern interpretation. This high-pitched plum acts almost like a high percentage or aftershave on the skin. Potent and as swift as an arrow. For midsummer but also for other occasions. It lasts forever for its genre and has power. Windsorny and alcoholic, it almost hisses in the nose. Not everyone's teacup, of course, but I like it very much. Due to its simple, straight and uncomplex nature, it is also ideal for layering. It's like crossing Obstler with Fleur de Male. The orange blossom rarely had more percentages. Very aggressive and tipsy. A little pirate drink. Even if it's only carnival. Sharp-edged and somehow sexy.
