Cologne Delight
Uwe Manasse, one of the minds behind Duftwerk in Cologne and creator of Cologne Delight, likes to refer to perfume as invisible jewelry. This description is accurate, as he has created a true gem here.
Rarely enough, but Cologne Delight begins with a "WOW effect." The fragrance does not start, as is usual, with a quickly fleeting top note but reveals all its notes from the very first spray. And they are impressive. Red flowers, nestled on delicate, woody notes surrounded by a subtle amber-tonka sweetness that never becomes intrusive or excessive. A powdery creaminess (or is it a creamy powder?) refines the composition, which certainly carries light oriental traits and also exhibits a certain depth, yet does not become overly complex. What particularly delights and surprises me: The tuberose holds back significantly here and is thus one of the very few that I find bearable. All the notes of the pyramid are indeed perceivable without dominating.
The sillage is not room-filling, rather slightly more than skin-close. The longevity is in a good range; after 5 hours, I can still perceive Cologne Delight well.
I would classify the fragrance as a unisex all-rounder that should suit any occasion.
With Cologne Delight, or translated as Cologne Joy, Uwe Manasse has created not just a piece of jewelry but a work of art. And that at a price that is very affordable.
