The best in its class?
I love Creed Aventus but I wanted to get something in that family of fragrances that performed well. So, I had my eyes on Hacivat. So I tried it and it performed very well and thought I could signature it when I finished my current bottle of Cedrat Boise.
One evening I decided to just try out CDNIM and ordered it online. I was very surprised at how well it worked and the compliments I was getting. The only minor drawback was the opening smelt a little synthetic but nothing I couldn't palate. It performed very well on my skin. So here was me thinking the quest was over and that CDNIM had nulled my itch for an Aventus-style fragrance. Then this fragrance came along and I decided to blind-buy Dumont Celerio Oros.
Honestly, if i smelt this in store side by side with Aventus, Hacivat, Cedrat Boise and CDNIM it would probably be my favourite. Compared to CDNIM it doesn't have that harsh opening. It's less smokey than CDNIM but the DNA is there. Performance on me is beast mode - when it first arrived i sprayed it 4 times and went to the gym and could smell it throughout my workout (gym was fairly empty). It's smoother blended than CDNIM, performs better (and CDNIM is beast mode) and smells more expensive.
I wouldn't say its a direct clone of Aventus because there are still differences and if you're really craving Creed exactly this might not do it. It's not a clone of Hacivat either but I would say if you like either of those fragrances you will probably like this. I think it would work in any season and for pretty much any occasion.
For $50, this is the cream of the crop of all the "Aventus-style" fragrances and just overall a very clean and pleasant fragrance that works well. The presentation is very good which is a nice touch. I'm keen to explore more from this house for sure.
