Poudre Désir Élisire 2015

Monday morning - I get up early, have a coffee, and get dressed for work. Jeans, blouse, sneakers - I like to wear sporty clothes.

Quickly, I grab a fragrance - I take the sample Poudre Désir that a dear person gifted me. Two drops behind my ear and on my wrist, then I’m on my way.

The scent reaches my nose and immediately surrounds me with a touch of luxury. I instantly feel very comfortable, and my wrist keeps moving towards my nose. Traffic jam on the highway - I’m not annoyed, I’m simply thrilled that I smell so good.

As I walk past my boss, he looks at me and asks if I’m wearing a new blouse. I tell him that I’ve had it for a long time. He says - something is new about you, then he walks on. To a colleague, I say - maybe he means my new fragrance. He laughs and says he has no idea, but the scent is really extremely good.

I find it hard to describe fragrances by their ingredients. I’m more inclined to describe the feelings that different scents evoke in me. This fragrance gives me a sense of security. It is close to me, and I feel very special when I wear it.

It smells powdery and at the same time spicy - that makes it interesting. It’s a delicate scent that lasts quite long (often delicate scents fade away so quickly, but this one stays with me for a long time).

Poudre Désir is a fragrance that gives me a certain elegance - even when I’m dressed sporty. The scent alone achieves that. I simply feel good with it and… yes, it seems to be the fragrance I’ve been searching for for a long time. (Unfortunately, I still have to save a bit, as luxury comes at a price).

Poudre Désir. Powdery desire or powdery longing then. Hmm… with such a name, one immediately imagines the scent to be, well, extremely powdery, which is actually lovely. Such fragrances are usually very soft (unless they are somehow totally dry) and beautifully feminine. This is also reflected in the description of the fragrance, which could be translated as "The essence of pure femininity."

Hmm… pure femininity… at this point, I should probably not mention that men tend to visualize such things more than women do,… and who knows what all comes to mind… but I digress :DD

In any case, I am now expecting a delicate and soft scent with iris, which could smell wonderful. Let's see…

The scent begins as expected, beautifully soft and gentle, and of course powdery with the iris, while the background is a bit spicy, which should come from the pink pepper. For a brief moment, a hint of bergamot seems to flash to freshen up the scent, but this note disappears again in the next moment.
At the same time, the fragrance exudes a creamy aura, which makes the already soft scent even more pleasant.
The heart note remains soft and powdery, slightly sweetened by jasmine, and has a general, slightly floral background.
In the base, lovely musk joins in, which emits a slight sweetness, along with light sandalwood. The heliotrope takes a little while to release its sweet and creamy almond scent and is not too strong, but it fits well with the other fragrance notes, so everything from the top note to the base is just right and well blended.

The sillage is, as often with this type of fragrance, rather low. Unfortunately, it does not project strongly, so it can only be perceived up close. And by close, I mean veeeery close, so close that you might be chased away by you beasts :DD… *sigh*
The longevity is above average, lasting about six or seven hours.

The bottle is rectangular with slightly beveled edges. In the photos, it is not clear whether the bottle is clear and the fragrance liquid is pink, or if the bottle itself has a slight pink tint. The cap seems to consist of a lower cylindrical part adorned with a pink ribbon, and an upper part that looks like a gemstone. I think the bottle looks very beautiful.

Oh yes, this fragrance is a dream for anyone who loves soft and powdery scents. The description of pure femininity seems to fit perfectly, as the scent is so pure or clean, feminine, fresh, beautiful, delicate, soft, creamy, powdery,… but also sexy, sensual, erotic, seductive,… you can see how much I struggle not to write the same thing as always, describing how wonderful such a scent must smell on a woman… how hot and delicious a woman must be with it… how quickly the blood of guys must flow from their upper body regions to their lower regions when they catch a whiff of this scent on a woman… um, you didn’t read that last part… :DD

No, seriously, this scent must really please everyone who enjoys this type of fragrance. It can be worn at any time, so either in the office as a lovely daytime scent or rather at home (summer or winter) or outside (then preferably only on warm days) for relaxation. Just for going out, where it would have worked really well, I find it a bit too weak, unfortunately… on the other hand, one could always reapply it occasionally…

I would definitely give it a try, as I said!

You know it immediately. The skin contact is like the first kiss because your heart skips a beat and all the insides you have in your body get tangled up.
After 10 minutes, you feel as if a hand is resting on your neck, gently pulling you closer, and the kiss starts again, becoming more passionate and demanding yet at the same time so soft and melting that you want to crumble with happiness right away.

The almost thought-to-be-dead caterpillar inside you has been awakened, it tingles, now it stretches and reaches out, you feel it exactly, a butterfly is being born. There it flutters, gently tapping with delicate wingbeats against your soul and your innermost being, and you know, you just know that this is a very precious moment of happiness.
Desire stirs within you, the butterfly rises and prepares for flight, your heart knows it too and starts pumping more in its urgency, your blood pressure rises, the pupils of your eyes dilate, and all the fine little hairs on your arm stand at attention, your breath quickens, your pulse accelerates, and you are hopelessly lost.

Your mind chimes in, trying to clarify the situation, politely asking if it can help to slow down the soul drama objectively. It is "just" an iris powder scent! Perceived similarly to the Prada Infusion d`Absolue. Which has also struck deep to the core and has already settled in, and you definitely don't need a similar scent. Whether one might want to end up like Doris Day with her 24 cats and someday in proud old age sit with a flowery apron on a collection of iris flacon fragrances...

And my heart speaks that this scent is so beautiful, a bit spicier and more exciting, slightly floral yet not overwhelming, a divine powder puff full of happiness, as romantic and wonderful as the first kiss!
So wonderful that you remember it for a long time and on the skin, a gentle touch remains for hours, that the butterfly inside fully blooms, waiting to take its first flight. Even though you know that heart butterflies must be free, you want Poudre Désir forever, to lock it away in the sometimes tender scent memory because it has imprinted itself so delicately on every little nerve, in every fiber, in the fine corners of the heart!
Because it quietly and sensitively brings happiness and becomes ethereal, because it is light and radiantly bright, because it spreads wonderfully wide and smooths out all the corners and edges of life with its shimmering powdery wings, granting sensually warm beautiful hours.
Because it can bring smiles and peace, satisfy desires, bring addictions to a standstill, fulfill cravings, dust harmony into the soul's life, and all just because it is there.

I let the name linger on my tongue again and again. A versatile, innovative perfume brand with truly wonderful scents.

Poudre Desir is my personal favorite from the Elisire collection. A truly wonderful iris scent. How could it be otherwise for a die-hard iris perfume lover?

With iris fragrances, there are many directions in which the iris is interpreted as the main actor but in very different themes.
I have categorized iris fragrances into several groups for myself.
Poudre Desir falls into the lipstick scent category. It immediately evokes associations with powder or lipstick and thus with ladies' handbags and makeup tables.
In this category, there are many fragrances, well-crafted fragrances. And even though I would place Poudre Desir in a category with Malle's Lipstick Rose, Misia, Volkamaria, as well as the recently quite hyped Angel's Dust, I must place Poudre Desir on a throne above all the mentioned perfumes.
In contrast to all the mentioned fragrances, Poudre Desir has no disturbing note that has always unsettled me. And although the scent is primarily powdery, at no point does it have that penetrating quality that so often accompanies it and can cause suffocation with some fragrances.
The secret of Poudre Desir lies in its consistency and harmony. It is a complex yet very finely composed scent, and thus again simple. Easy to wear. That is ultimately what excites me so much about fragrances and makes them candidates for purchase.
Poudre Desir has the elegance of past, glamorous times, without ever appearing outdated for a second. On the contrary!

The opening of the fragrance is quite zesty, with the mandarin being the most prominent to me. The pink pepper adds a slight spiciness. The mandarin quickly becomes creamy with the popping jasmine. The same wonderful jasmine from Jasmin Paradis. The iris is present from the very beginning, initially in the background and unfolding more strongly, remaining the main actor for a long time.
The structure is formed by musk and heliotrope, which give the fragrance a bright, creamy garment until the very end.

The transitions are as seamless as the color gradient of the wonderful bottle.

Even if the wheel is not reinvented here, it is an absolute premium wheel.

The longevity for me is about 8 hours. Sillage is moderate.

Today is the day, and I sprayed Poudre Désir on:

At first, I perceive a strong alcoholic-bergamot breeze... Pepper joins in immediately, but the mandarin indicated in the fragrance pyramid does not come through for me... I perceive the start as very green and fresh... The pepper stays rather in the background...

Gradually, something powdery comes through... and there it is, the dear Iris :) She is - although freshly washed and powdered - still a bit "earthy-dirty"... this gives the fragrance, in my opinion, a special touch :) a bit of "gritty-dirty" indeed :)

I can't find any jasmine, but gardenia clearly comes through, great :)

Later, a delicate musk note joins in, which weaves a fine veil around the "dirty iris" along with the cedar and resonates until the end.

The sillage is, in my opinion, medium to strong, and the longevity is very good. I can smell it for about 8 hours, although towards the end it is more intimate :)

Overall, a very interesting fragrance that surely not everyone wears... I like it and could imagine wearing it, for example, during a walk in autumn/winter :)

For me, Poudre Désir smells similar to Blanc Violette by Histoires de Parfums, just a bit greener and dirtier...?
