Night Sauna in the Trees
Abstract, delicate scent. The "mist note" listed reads as the scent of the residual heat of a shower rising off freshly cleaned skin. Whatever wood is being gestured at here, it makes the slightly soapy mist feel more organic and substantive while being difficult to detect on its own.

The only other skin accord perfume I've tried is Ghost in the Shell, which positions the flesh in opposition to some intense metallic notes. Here, the brushstrokes are hidden and the body fades into mist. Where Ghost feels aggressive, Post Tenebras Lux feels suggestive. Wear this to smell like you just left an onsen and somebody else washed your hair.

The Doll on Your Skin
Lifelessness. I believe your doll is dead. Nothing but glue, the battered skin. The hair teased and sprayed so much, it could never be combed again. How many times did you powder her face, smear her with old Penaten cream, paint her mouth with finger paints, cling to her body at night, your own scent reminding you of her, all that plastic on your arms, you accepted it so delicately and eventually never came home again.
**
Folie À Plusieurs sees itself as an olfactory recording device that stores and reflects the thoughts, work, and experiences of artists. "Post Tenebras Lux" is Antoine Lie's interpretation of a scene from the film of the same name by Carlos Reygadas Barguín, intended to represent the evaporation of water on the skin of lovers in a sauna through woods and synthetic mist and skin accords.
The scent opens for me with a strange accord of hairspray and dried glue, which soon takes on slightly citrus-powdery notes. Beneath that, familiar aromas of Penaten cream emerge, as well as indeed the scent of skin, which has in turn taken on the slightly rubbery plastic smell of dolls. An association I share with Ergoproxy. Wood is not perceivable to me, at best an imitation of glue-like Mysore. That is somehow exciting and wearable, although not for me. The scent of the dolls projects, as in distant childhood, rather closely for a good seven hours.

The Ballerina with Dragonfly Wings
The biting smell of glue enveloped her in silence and darkness until a scratching noise and the rubbing of plastic on plastic announced the inevitable: With the sound of the wheezing tune, the small wooden box sprang open and propelled her with a mechanical snap into the glaring light. On one leg and with arms raised above her head, she had to turn to the blurring rhythm of the music, whether she wanted to or not. The holder was already slightly bent, causing the sounds to stutter every time her foot hit the edge of the box.
The smile painted on, delicate limbs embraced by a plastic shell.
Although it was tight and stuffy in the small box, she longed for the lid to close again so she could return. But this time, something was different. First barely noticeable, then increasingly stronger, a soft vibration emanating from her chest coursed through her body. The shell surrounding her seemed to melt. Light began to flood her. At first, she could only move a single finger, then she carefully freed one arm from its pose and finally the aching foot that had caused her so much sorrow.
Suddenly, her body was flexible and supple, the skin radiated a golden shimmer as dragonfly-like wings sprouted from her shoulder blades.
Hesitantly, she dared to take a step forward. Then another. The music box continued to turn without her. Relieved, she slipped off her pointe shoes and felt the ground beneath her feet for the first time.
In her sigh of relief, she spotted a moth fluttering before the lamp at the open window, as if it wanted to show her the way. Timidly, she spread her wings and floated weightlessly upward. She followed the moth. Out. Into the night. Where a fluorescent glow awaited her in the garden. Like will-o'-the-wisps, ethereal figures whirled in a circle, singing a song she had never heard before.
Her kind!
She reached out her hand and stepped into the endless dance.

**

“Post Tenebras Lux” is an extraordinarily peculiar and elusive fragrance. At least for me. Upon spraying, it swings a salty synthetic club that reminds me of squeaky plastic, old plywood, and wood glue. A bit like those cheap jewelry boxes with a music box, in which a ballerina dances when you open them. Pleasant is not the word, but I bravely endure, as the scent is quiet yet very present and radiates far enough for me to feel there is no escape at first.
And the patience pays off, as something magical happens after about ten to fifteen minutes: inexplicably, the bulky, dissonant notes come together. Suddenly, I recognize a pulse beneath warm skin, a harmonious whole that may not have grown organically, but emits a diffuse golden glow. “Post Tenebras Lux” is more aura than perfume. Such scents often drive me crazy after one or two hours because I miss the development, the tension, the contrasts, but with this fragrance, I feel completely at ease.
By the way, I wouldn’t describe the scent as “close to the skin,” except perhaps in a figurative sense, because despite all the synthetics, it manages to simulate a plausible skin accord. The fragrance is so transparent that it does not readily reveal its source, yet it follows me for hours and hours like a tender, enveloping shadow. Sometimes, this surprising intimacy brings a slight blush to my face, even though I can't quite define why.

Your Skin on My Skin
We lie in the still warm sand: I have forgotten where we were back then; it’s been too long.
We have since lost each other.
But there is one thing I still remember very clearly:
Quick warming of the skin, shivering under tender touches; who started it?
You?
Me?
Both of us at the same time?
Your skin on my skin; wrapped in the gentle haze of the beginning evening twilight.
A fragrance weaving from floating mist and the special aromas of our still touching skin.
The caressing haze brings with it the woody breath of the Orient:
Where from?

“Post Tenebras Lux” is also one of the creations from the fragrance workshop “Folie à Plusieurs”, the third one I get to test.
“Amore” thrilled me just as much as “Kafka on the Shore” fascinated me:
Each fragrance is an experience - a living experience!
They have nothing in common, except for the subsequent astonishment, wonder, simple joy, and the question:
“What am I experiencing here?”

Everything about it seems artificial, is artificial.
“Post Tenebras Lux” is, in the truest sense of the word, a work of art of a very special kind.
If you immerse yourself in this fragrance creation, you encounter the words of Arthur Schnitzler:
“… A sense is only found by the one who seeks it.
Dream and waking, truth and lie flow into each other …”

I was skeptical; but I threw myself headfirst and thoughtlessly into the adventure of “Post Tenebras Lux” with the carelessness that I can only perceive in this world of fragrance.
And what did I find?
A dream behind a curtain of mist!

Artificial? Strange? Yes!
I first sprayed this fragrance garment one evening (I told you: careless!), later sprayed it again:
I felt secure in sleep and dream!

"Your skin but better" in perfection
... or a charming hint of "nothing".

The first few seconds after spraying are a bit irritating; it almost feels like the molecules are not joining the dance quickly enough, so it takes a while for the fragrance to kick in.

It starts with something "molecular," washed-out, clean, and in the background - surprisingly for me - a somewhat ethereal, pine-like note flashes up, reminding me of forests and logging, not saunas, although the forest in this state seems far too clean. At this stage, the fragrance conveys more of an impression of male skin. Gradually, the flash of the ethereal pine note fades, and a sandalwood substitute and musk, only subtly clean and skin-like, come to the surface, merging more and more over time. Throughout the entire duration, the fragrance is quite present, yet pleasantly soft.

Antoine Lie has indeed succeeded in creating one of the most fascinating scents of the so-called "molecule genre" from purely synthetic fragrance materials (I assert) by skillfully dosing each fragrance component and weaving them together, resulting in a very harmonious, truly skin-like, gently floating scent. None overpowers the other, none stands out, and none runs out of breath too early, keeping the fragrance very rounded throughout its entire duration.

That I react extremely sensitively to these sandalwood substitute scents (comparable to Javanol) is not the perfumer's fault; ultimately, they spoil this fragrance for me. Additionally, there is a very "skin-like" musk scent that reminds me of "Easy for Ecstasy / Pure | Philly & Phill." Both in combination may lead to this warm skin-like fragrance accord, and in the background, a bright synthetic resin shimmers on paper. This fragrance accord can also be found in many other scents, but I have never experienced it as skillfully and accurately executed as in this one.

Many thanks to Gandix for allowing me to discover this fragrance.
