Black (Ghost Site N˚—1)

One of the most fascinating scents from a fascinating company. I'm having a hard time explaining this one. While the components, on paper, are all quite natural, and don't seem to be anything to speak of - we've all smelled leathers with cedar and vetiver before - there's something about this particular combination that comes off very unique and industrial.

Instantly on smelling it, it brought up imagery of a mid-late 90s art party - the kind you heard about from a friend of a friend, only for those in the know, and you had to brave your way down an abandoned NYC alley in the days before Google Maps to get to it, wondering the whole time if you were in the right place or if you'd get jumped, only to ride a freight elevator up to an antiseptic SoHo loft where a dominatrix had a gimp locked in a vacuum bed for an S&M performance art piece. A DJ spun Techno Animal and Scorn, and you're pretty sure that was Genesis P-Orridge you saw on the other side of the room chain smoking and drinking vodka tonics.

Despite the ingredients, somehow the specific combination comes off very industrial - yes, leather for sure, but also latex, PVC, rubber, and dare I say... silicone lube? Incredibly sexy in a totally atypical, industrial way. Yet there's an herbal undercurrent holding it all together. Somehow it's lean like concrete yet complex. It's not for everyone, but for those who "get" it it'll be sexy as all get out. The best from this niche label IMHO.

Dating/Funeral Fragrance

Hi friends, today I tested a dating fragrance, even though I never go on dates. But I suspect it works. Otherwise, it will be my scent whenever I'm invited somewhere, like the last time in 2013. Even if it was just by accident. My grandma's sister, however, is not so fit anymore. Maybe I can use it then. It's called Black, so that fits. Even though I generally prefer ochre. Anyway, I saw this brand with that foreign name I can't pronounce. I’ll just say Folie. This brand had already caught my attention with another fragrance of theirs, called Körper.
Jens-Peter, I thought, you have a body. This could be something. I accidentally bought the Black, I would have otherwise soaked myself with too much milk, so I made that faux pas. But it fits. I’m such a thoughtful, mysterious type. Many say I’m strange, which I consider mysterious. For example, I think a lot about my guinea pig Manni. Or how it will go on with Farmer Wants a Wife International? But enough said. You can insert my text before the comments with the monkey with the nose, who never writes anything like this but you should think for yourself. For me, it’s no issue, I’m anyway the thoughtful type and I always wonder if I should go donkey riding tomorrow and then I read his text first.

So I don’t really have any ideas on how to describe the fragrance, but I stalked someone from the bushes for several weeks who tested it. Let’s call her G____x. Actually, many others have already described it better than I can. But okaaaaaaaay, let’s go!
I once created a memory protocol and added a lot, crossed out some things, and also tested the fragrance myself. It was nothing for me; I thought someone had set my car tires on fire. Those four cheeky little brats from the neighbor's kids, Norman, Andy, Rene, and Christopher!
At first, it’s still okay. You smell like you just came out of a medical bath where you dozed off. As wrinkled as fingers and non-fingers, you can also imagine old tires taking on that smell. Good thing my internet girlfriend can’t smell that. Otherwise, I might have to transfer her even more every month. She can’t work at the moment and asked me if I could transfer her something. She’ll give it all back to me. Eventually.

Phew, after a while, I only smell like wet earth with a twist. A bit warm. Is anyone going to be buried too early? It smells like sweet resin; maybe someone spilled something. That often happens to me with pancakes and maple syrup. That’s why I always have my Daffy Duck bib with me in restaurants like McDonald’s.
I was almost glad but also knew that it’s masculine and thoughtful, so I would have to like it. Luckily, the ginger comes back later, feeling masculine as if I just showered. I felt like I was in an Axe commercial.

You can guess: maybe I distorted some things here. So let’s get to the real review:
Black is a really good fragrance, encompassing notes that remind me of tire fields in scorching heat, of asphalt, and yet as a work, it is much more complex than similar products. This facet never dominates so much that you could be overwhelmed by it. I would almost describe Black as agreeable. For me, it’s not exhausting; it’s somehow fun because of its herbal-medical note. Of course, after a quarter of an hour, the ginger fades, which provided the refreshing-spicy nuance. Then it becomes warm-smoky, not swirling but with a consistency like rising mist. The cedar wood adds a dull-woody accent. Unfortunately, Ghost - Black fades rather weakly afterward, as nothing else happens and the intensity decreases gradually but quickly. Very unfortunate, because the beginning is great. The ginger awakens again after an hour, but it’s just a kind of herb-masculine shower gel ginger.
Despite all that, a nice fragrance and thanks to Gandix. No Bavarian women were harmed.
