Floating Sunrise
Bright stripes on the eastern horizon in soft shades of orange. Slightly blurred by the humid haze of a cool night transitioning into morning. Grasses sway in the gentle wind.
Over there at the edge of the forest, a green shimmer already glows from the weak ambient light. Spicy air greets the early hikers. The dew on the grass dampens their footwear. A light wool jacket protects against the chill. It is likely to be a beautiful, pleasant day. You can already smell it.
The now increasing brightness seems to gently hover over the landscape. The last night's gray in the west gives way to a blue, slightly cloudy sky. I like to linger here until the sun is higher in the sky. On a bench at the forest's edge. Enjoying the herb-fresh scents of the morning and the spice of the damp herbs. Rosemary, verbena, and the blue flowers of the "wild iris."
Winter has retreated, summer is approaching. "Magical half-world" of a full spring morning...
A successful vetiver scent with many facets and nearly all sides of the aromatic grass.
NO "scent twin" to other perfumes in this genre.....Simply put, AWESOME! ;-))

Gentle, Soft, Floating Vetiver Scent
After not writing about fragrances for a while, this scent has inspired me to leave a comment, which is also the first for this beautiful fragrance.

I really enjoy mild vetivers. Unfortunately, my two favorite scents that create a “gentle, light vetiver aura” and are not too sharp or earthy are relatively high-priced. (Creed Original Vetiver and Frederick Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire).

This gap is filled by Sunrise Vetiver from Franck Olivier. While the scent unfortunately cannot completely replace the aforementioned ones (it costs only a fraction), it comes quite close in some facets. Moreover, it is a good introductory vetiver scent, as it is not as strict/spicy as Guerlain Vetiver, or as dark and gloomy as Encre Noir, but rather comes across as delicate and soft.

SV opens with a pleasant mix of citrus fruits, more lemon/yuzu than grapefruit or orange. Definitely not sweet, but lemony fresh. After just under half an hour, the green phase follows, which I attribute to verbena (although I have never smelled verbena pure). It remains creamy, soft, somehow floating, even though the green touch gradually transitions into a very slightly smoky vetiver. The scent does not have any significant leaps in development; it only evolves in nuances. SV always remains mild and reserved, even in the drydown, where I detect a bit of light musk alongside the vetiver.

While SV shares common aspects with other vetiver scents, it has its own character, which I believe is worth testing. Allegedly, Mark Buxton is the perfumer of SV; I cannot assess that, as I have never (consciously) tried a scent by MB.

On my skin, SV is still slightly perceptible after four to five hours, and then it's over. You can't really call the scent a sillage monster, but this is often very welcome for me in spring/summer :-). For this reason, it is also suitable for the office or train/airplane.

One last word about the bottle: Phenomenal! A very heavy, elegant, handy glass bottle with a great magnetic closure, a reasonable sprayer, and high-quality metal applications. It would do justice to a 200 Euro fragrance.

Oh yes, did I mention that Sunrise Vetiver is available for 15 Euros / 75ml?

The citrusy opening is followed by a clearly noticeable vetiver note, neither earthy nor aromatic, and a bit lacking in definition for my taste.

Here, the sun truly rises. Bright citrus notes with a green herbaceous touch on a soft creamy vetiver wood base. Round and harmonious.

Grey Vetiver dupe. A bit synthetic. Very well done. Wonderful fresh, round, clean, modern, citrusy-moist-soapy vetiver.

Pleasant vetiver scent, never too sweet, yet citrusy fruity and mildly spicy in the dry down. Excellent price/performance. Blind buy.

The sunny side of vetiver is skillfully showcased here with hesperidic notes. Linear progression, no surprises, rock solid.

Radiant in green and gold tones. Delicate rough freshness, grassy, rooty, earthy, and woody. Citrus fruits greet in the coolness of the morning. GOOD

Bright, invigorating freshness. Intense lemon with a slight herbal bitterness. Really lovely. Later drydown with a homeopathic flint note?

Classic and spicy vetiver, fine citrus notes, and pleasantly accompanying cardamom make it more modern.
Somewhere between Guerlain and Hermes vetiver.

The rating seems to take the original price into strong consideration:
- For me, it's very alcoholic.

Airy-citrusy vetiver. Surprisingly smooth for the price range. If you like this scent profile, go for it.
