Hmmphrhmm! ... Horatio Hornblower's fever-reducing South Sea elixir

The name of this noble perfume brought to mind the colorful historical spectacle of the equally fictional and daring English sea officer Horatio Hornblower, played by Gregory Peck. This thrilling cruise ship epic from 1951, with its genre-typical sailing ship collisions, sword fights, and the melodramatic sailor's love for a certain Lady Barbara Wellesley, the niece of the Duke of Wellington, once provided perfect entertainment and exciting waves. However, "The King's Admiral" and the wonderfully crafted fragrance creation by Didier Gaglewski from the French fragrance capital Grasse offer little in common at first glance, aside from the blue uniform.

"L’Amiral" is a pleasantly fresh little water in an elegantly slender bottle. A scent for the season with rising temperatures, which awakens in both men and women the thought of looking for lighter fragrances. Aquatic perfumes like this are in season, as in tropical heat, one longs for a drift that blows a good wind into the rigging. Right after the invigorating breeze of bergamot and mandarin essences, it is the pleasantly cooling, sweet menthol-lavender mix that brings a slightly soapy touch to the skin and suggests a feeling of cleanliness, smelling a bit like really good sunscreen and immediately surrounding one with the most beautiful Mediterranean atmosphere. Friendly, gentle, noble, bright, and pleasing, a warm base of sandalwood underscores the fine character of this magnificent unisex Eau de Toilette, which initially projects lightly, then soon unfolds very stylishly close to the body over many hours of the day.

Hmmphrhmm, … what can I say? The fearless captain had a soft heart and melted in the face of the unheard-of beauty of Lady Wellesley, who in turn had long agreed, out of gratitude for the equally selfless and devoted care of the officer, to embark on a shared journey to the stars. However, one detail should not escape the attentive observer of the Samaritan scene - on the nightstand of her fantasizing ladyship - the only effective remedy against swamp fever: A soothing little water in an elegantly slender bottle!

It was a pleasure to read your wonderfully upbeat comment again! While aquatics usually get on my nerves ;), this one has a high menthol content that could shift the scent into positive territory! Since summers are getting hotter and more tropical anyway, it sounds like a well-considered purchase!
