The Spirit of Le Mâle
A fragrance with this short cool name and in this striking bottle!?!
And then in this stunning purple!?!
I definitely would have noticed it in stores, but I've never seen it like this.
Fortunately, LosPepes kindly sent me a sample of it, otherwise this creation would have simply passed me by.
And if Le Mâle didn't already exist, I might have moved heaven and earth to snag more of it.
But that is also the curse and blessing of a successful fragrance: many love it because it's well made - many hate it because it's so omnipresent.
Since Le Mâle has already left olfactory scorched earth in my nose, Ghost remains more of a negative association for me.
Especially since one wonders what the point of a relatively close copy of a bestseller is, unless you want to sell it off as an obvious fake at a flea market. And that too from Pierre Bourdon.
In direct comparison, Le Mâle appears much more refined and lively, while Ghost seems rather dull and vague. The heart note comes across as a bit too syrupy sweet here. In the base note, you can only discern marginal differences from the original.
I think Ghost Man is ideal for everyone,
- who are into funky bottles in purple
- who don't know the original at all but have fallen for this scent
- who don't want a blue sailor at home
- who want to smugly and honestly deny the question of whether they are wearing Le Mâle
Yes, Ghost Man would be a hit … if Le Mâle didn't already exist.
