Suffocating Fruity/Floral

Another fruity/floral, this one strong on black currant, with a traditional musky, amber, woody base. Overall, not as good as Lalique's Amethyst, to me. The top is bright and though the drydown ought to be lovely something immediately puts me on the verge of sneezing and becomes suffocating after a while. For me it's a pass.

Gentler Sì edp

Sì edt, like the title suggests, is the more wearable, gentler version of the original Sì edp. Where its edp counterpart is decidedly syrupier and stronger, the edt is tender, graceful and just so beautifully feminine. It may not reveal itself as exciting off the bat, but would make for a great everyday fragrance. Once you put it on, you're pleasantly treated to a fresh burst of citrus, softened by fruity sweetness borrowed from black currant and strawberry. All in all, it's a very easy-going, hyper-elegant and versatile fragrance. You just cannot contest the comfort and ease of wearing a soft fragrance. At times, that's just all you need and Si edt allows you that chance to escape the loud, over-stimulated state of modern day life in favour of a rare, comforting moment of peace and serenity.

Let's just call her Simone. (If by chance a Simone is reading this - of course not you!) After every class test, Simone had her dramatic appearance on the schoolyard: 'Totally terrible, didn't know anything, definitely a four, honestly!' When you asked her about it two weeks later - and even if you didn't ask, the conversation somehow always ended up there - it turned out every time: 'Oh, a one minus - I would have never guessed, really!' While the other girls in her class practiced kissing with the boys from the higher grades during the summer holidays, she pressed creeping buttercup between her parents' encyclopedia and neatly glued it into an album - labeled in Latin: 'Ranunculus repens' - voluntarily for biology. Nevertheless, she was not unpopular, because despite her intensity, she was not unpleasant - and in an unremarkable way, quite pretty. However, she never belonged to the cool crowd - even if she sometimes regretted it - during the long drive home from the awards ceremony of the national competition for ancient languages.

Armani's Sì is a perfume like (and for) our Simone. You notice its ambition to be better and more high-quality than all the other pink fruit waters of its generation, of which almost every perfume house now has at least one in its portfolio. It leaves the initial fruitiness behind surprisingly quickly - almost as if it is ashamed of it - just like Simone, when she stayed out with friends until half past ten, even though chemistry was being tested the next day. To the fleeting berry note, it adds a distinctly ripe floral note, with rose more noticeable than freesia - just like Simone, who got up an hour earlier in the morning to review the alkali metals one more time - which it transitions into a soft woody base. Its scent progression feels strained and ambitious, almost rehearsed. Sì is the composed, ambitious one among the pink fruity scents of the 2010s, the distinctly non-teenage and non-girly one. It lacks calmness, lacks ease, lacks playful tenderness - even if the smiling Cate Blanchett promises just that.

Conclusion: a little overachiever who can't help being himself. Not entirely unsympathetic, but stiff and uptight - one who wants so desperately to belong to the good crowd that he completely forgets to live. Like our Simone - pardon: Sì-mone.

He wants a lot, but can only offer a little

I have Si EdT as a miniature at home and was able to sniff it quite a bit and form my impression of this fragrance.

Clearly, it rides, like many others at the moment, on the overly sweet waves and imposes itself on you. The beginning is very sweet, primarily characterized by blackcurrant and mandarin. This fruit mix is still quite nice and doesn't hit you as hard as La vie est Belle.

BUT, here comes the real calorie bomb. I'm not sure what it is, but I suspect it's the May rose that combines with one of the fruity sweet components to create an unbelievably sweet concoction.

In the middle, it becomes quite nice, a bit calmer, the sweetness decreases, and eventually all the fruit and flower disappear, leaving only the woody base. However, I don't find it very elegant. It comes across as somewhat clumsy/cheap to me. Overall, the scent simply reminds me of my village disco, where made-up hens stand around feeling sexy.

In conclusion, I would like to note that I noticed shimmer pigments in the perfume. I'm not sure if it's just generally due to the oil content in the perfume, but the shimmer does appear very pearlescent compared to the rest of the skin. This brings us back to the village disco.

I think the fragrance appeals to young, pubescent girls, but it's not a Si for an adult woman. If Si, then preferably Si Intense.

pink surprise

The pink bottle could have given me pause, yet I was positively surprised by the rosy content of Si EdT.

While the Intense version greets me with a little blackcurrant liqueur, the EdT overwhelms me with lush May rose.
Very pleasant!

The rose scent is so full and prominent that I look up May rose on Wiki.

Aha - a species of wild rose, also known as cinnamon rose, which is hardly found in our gardens.
As a rose fan, I immediately wish to cultivate it in my garden - for its scent is so beautifully soft and intense.

The fruity components take a subtle backseat to the May rose, serving only as accompaniment.
The woody notes and patchouli also merely frame this beautiful rare rose variety.

I like this exclusive scent, which feels attractively romantic on me.
A delicate sweetness adds to it - but only in the finish.

This version of "Si" also says "Yes" to me.

I take it all back, I think this one is the best of the Sì fragrances! For me, it's very subtle and has a lovely sweetness that doesn't overwhelm! In love!
