By the Sea...
Since I come from the sea (from Kiel), I have a tendency towards aquatic scents, and I stumbled upon this one through the Parfumo fragrance note search (very practical, by the way!).
I was particularly interested in the maritime notes and seaweed in this perfume.
I then found it at the online shop of the turquoise perfume chain, of which we have no branch within reachable distance, so I once again shopped 'blind'.
And, oh, what can I say, this is a scent that dances out of the usual aquatic suspects! At least I perceive it that way; it deviates from the typical Calone scent for my nose. Perhaps because it is a natural perfume? At least it says on the label of the packaging 'Apiarium presents A Natural Parfum', which could be an explanation.
The scent starts fresh-lemony, and yet from the very beginning, it has a sea note in it that I really like because it is not as intrusive as in other maritime perfumes.
And then comes my favorite part: The smell becomes salty, but still retains a bit of the lemony-sweetness from the start! A truly wonderful combination, in my opinion (even if it’s not as 'seaweedy' as one might think when reading the fragrance pyramid).
Indeed, you truly get the feeling of being by the sea. Specifically, at a refreshing beach with salty wind, and with a hint of homemade, only lightly sweetened lemonade that you just stumbled upon in a small shop.
This scent gently caresses the nose but is never intrusive or annoying.
Even with repeated wear of this perfume, I am delighted by the successful embodiment of the name Water & Salt!
The scent fades out with soft cedarwood notes, which are beautifully integrated into the maritime theme; there are generally no breaks in the fragrance, but rather a delicate progression chord.
The only downside is the longevity, which leaves something to be desired. After four to five hours, the scent is hardly perceptible, and for noses that are used to real powerhouses, it probably disappears even earlier, and the sillage is also quite subtle.
Nevertheless, I am absolutely thrilled to have obtained a real 'sea perfume' at a very good price. It could even be a bit more seaweedy and wild for me, but then it might also be too intense for most buyers. (I am currently trying to create something like that for myself.)
Oh, and it is a totally unisex scent. Here, both men and women with a penchant for the sea can be happy with it, especially those who prefer unobtrusive, natural perfumes.
From me, there’s an unreserved thumbs-up for that!
Best regards
