Rose is a rose is a rose...

'Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose
Loveliness extreme.
Extra gaiters,
Loveliness extreme.
Sweetest ice-cream
Pages ages page ages page ages' (by Gertrude Stein)..

I find this poem, that actually is saying that things 'are what they are' very appropriate for this beautyful perfume although the name of the perfume is based on other literature.
Although the opening will not tell you about a rose right away, when being patient, you will find out: This IS a rose...
I had sprayed some on the back of my hand in the perfumery, couldn't imagine this was a rose forward scent (like I had read from reviews), went on sniffing other perfumes, forgot about it, came outside and smelled this beautyful, somehow ozonic (the aldehydes I guess) smelling rose!
I'm not someone to hunt down rose-scents, always considered myself as someone who did not like rose-scents, but here I was mesmerized by this scent!
When I came home, I found myself sniffing my hand, now finding a juicy rose that almost smelled like fruit (without it being gourmand), but still...it WAS a rose, but so juicy!
It was asif the perfume was saying: "So you don't like rose-scents? I'll teach you how to LOVE rose-scents!" and back to the store I went, buying a bottle.

Like I said, the opening is not rose-y at all, I don't know what I smell in the opening, certainly not bad, but peculiar, especially when you expect a rose; those are probably the more green listed topnotes and it actually takes quite a while before the rose takes center stage ('Loveliness extreme').
Then those aldehydes lift the rose, leaving a wonderful sillage, with something cool surrounding it ('Sweetest ice-cream') untill the drydown leaves you with a more sweet balsamic feel that will last forever ('Pages ages page ages page ages').

So if you are thinking of testing this perfume, I really advice you to be patient and wait at least half an hour before judging it. I never had a perfume with a drydown, so different from the opening.
