The breath of the lotus

And so Nefer-Tem emerged from the lake. The primordial lake in which he was once born. His skin blue-violet and iridescent like mother-of-pearl. On his head the crown of blossoming lotus. His wet body covered with the same wet petals. He was called to help and heal. To make whole what threatened to break and die. His power was the anointing of oils, aromas and fragrances. And so, in the light of the setting sun, he went into the temple of all the deities. Anubis and Osiris were already waiting for him and led the way into the hall of the gods. His feet, ankles and calves turned orange-yellow on the way there due to the bitter, dull saffron that covered the floor like a soft carpet. Cats came in droves. Gradually more and more of them circled around him. His mother Bastet was not too far away. He could already smell her. Her animalistic, moist, warm and pungent scent permeated the corridors. He was suckled with the holiest civet. He would never forget her scent!

She was already waiting in the chamber of the sun. She wore her face of cats. She stood behind the dying Raa and held up his golden head, that he might see Nefer-Tem and his gift to him. The gift Nefer-Tem brought was a bouquet of blossoming lotus flowers dripping with nectar. They shimmered in the deepest blue-violet and their calyxes were so wide open that they seemed to sing. And they did. Not in notes or tones. Only through the scent they exuded. It was the melody of aromas and scents that Raa inhaled as Nefer-Tem placed the magnificent bouquet on his chest.

Nefer-Tem plucked another lotus from the bouquet and placed it on the dying Raa's only eye. Before he died and to alleviate his suffering. And so Raa died. And his immortal soul was carried away. Begged on the softest, most flower-like and gentle musk. And so Raa's immortal soul flew towards the sun on the wings of the lotus. Gentle and full of powdery-soft florality...

Conclusion
Lotus,...so infinitely precious! More expensive than many an oud. Almost priceless in its purest form and essence. So watery-pure and delicate. Yet so heavy and numbing. Taken on its own, the scent of lotus is already brutally beautiful. In the right combination with various other fragrances, it can be like a drug. Marcus R. McCoy must have done it! You have to be a bit mad to do it. He seems to be! The flower of flowers was not the rose. No,...it was the lotus! Nefertum's Flower is an homage to Nefer-Tem himself. The god of ointments, anointing oils, aromas and perfumes. The opening may be bitter, dull and pungent, made of saffron and humid-hay civet. But it soon sorts itself out. The lotus opens watery and moist. The soft, delicate petals unfurl timidly and shyly. Nectar of powdery-sweet dust fills the air. Carried by buttery and creamy musk that seems to become ever softer. A floral heaviness pervades the perfume. Boundaries are broken. Of flowers, animals and humanity itself. Immortality seems to be looking at you. At least that's how it seems to me! Flowers can be like predators. All that distinguishes them is the way they hunt. The lotus masters them. But it doesn't eat flesh. Lotus eats the soul...

Nefertum,...we all worship the same god here. Or...

Thank you dear B. for a little piece of heaven.
Give me a hug...!
