Joy of Beautiful Divine Sparks.....
If there were a soundtrack to my current fragrance experience, it would certainly be Beethoven's 9th Symphony :-D......
I am delighted..!! Exceptionally delighted even..!!
Although I cannot detect any scent similarity to No. 5, unlike my predecessors, this one is at least equally fantastic..!!
I locate the similarity to No. 5 Extrait more in the overall impression of the fragrance and the way perfumes were composed in the past.
Premiere is a perfume that can be identified as such at the very first sniff. Confusion with scented candles, aroma oils, or synthetic experiments of any kind is out of the question.
This scent is a PARFUM and it smells accordingly "perfumy".
My nose perceives PREMIERE EXTRAIT as warm-balsamic, floral-aldehydic, subtly animalistic, and extraordinarily complex. The aldehydes are more noble resinous-waxy than bright and radiant.....at least in the Extrait....to what extent this can be attributed to the age of the bottle, I cannot judge, as I only owned the EDT version in the 80s.....
Although the top note contains a lot of fruits in its composition, at no point does it give the impression of a "fruity" scent.....otherwise, I wouldn't like it either ;-)....
Rather, the slightly tart aspects of blackcurrant and lemon form a balancing counterpoint to the sweeter components of the fragrance....
The finish is a wonderfully balsamic-woody-mossy base with a very subtle sweetness....
PREMIERE EXTRAIT is "old school" in pure culture. Complex, dense, and exceptionally noble.
And of course, it is......discontinued :-(
