An unknown classic
This relatively unknown Jean Patou fragrance, should be considered a classic by all means. So much attention has been given to Joy over the last few decades, that other fragrances from this line have somehow fallen under the radar. This shouldn't be so.

Moment Supreme is beautiful, rich and smooth on the skin. It dances delicately between being a spicy floral and a dry chypre. It is not unlike Guerlain's Jicky in its approach, however I find Moment Supreme much softer and more powdery.

The scent opened on my skin with a glorious blend of bergamot, jasmine and sweet, syrupy peach. Before long the lavender made a rather aromatic entrance, signalling that this fragrance was of an oriental nature. Moment Supreme is enough to make a statement, however it never comes across as being overdone or too loud. The balance is just right.

Moment Supreme somehow reminds me of Cruella de Vil; quirky, fashionable and sleek, but perhaps less evil. The smoky, incensey drydown conjures up the image of her puffing away with her gloved hand holding a long, red cigarette holder.

I'm not certain as to how old my sample is, or from what decade it was made, but what I do know, is that it still smells beautiful. The longevity is quite impressive too, however I assume it would last a lot longer in its fresher, newer self. Take that as a hint Jean Patou, but please bring it back with no major nor minor tweaks to the composition.

The Provence in a Bottle
There are those highest, greatest moments in life, I know what I'm talking about. Wearing a fragrance like Moment Supreme in such a moment is a revelation!

I love lavender and look forward to its bloom every year, when in the early evening the plant and its flowers radiate their scent warmed by the sun. It is one of the most beautiful floral scents on our planet and often, unfortunately, underestimated.

I can very well understand why Moment Supreme was so popular, especially when I look at the year it was created. Back then, ladies would occasionally faint, and they relied on lavender to dispel nausea. Often, these lavender scents were quite strong and had a distinctly medicinal touch. However, if a lady wore Moment Supreme, she was not only a pleasure for herself but also for those around her!

It is an absolute masterpiece when lavender is processed as it is in this fragrance.
Unlike my predecessor, I don't smell anything sharp, cool, or piercing. On the contrary. The lavender in the extrait that I have been applying to my wrist repeatedly for the past two days has such a wonderful softness, combined with a subtle sweetness, that I simply melt away.

No, I really cannot confirm any sharpness. All the fragrance components in this scent have been composed around the lavender. Where one component adds spiciness, another provides softness, and the third brings radiant floral notes and elegance. Amber adds profound depth and warmth, combined with a subtle sweetness.

Directly on the skin, the slightly bitter herbaceousness of the lavender herb can be perceived for a long time, but in the projection, it is the flowers that radiate their brilliance to the surroundings.

Moment Supreme is definitely the most beautiful lavender scent I have ever smelled, and I am sure that I will wear it often.

It radiates warmth and sunshine, this lavender scent on a sweet amber base, spiced with clove and mingling with roses and jasmine.

A very old-school floral composition, with a strong rose geranium on me - but the little bottle is very vintage and possibly tilted.

A very fine, soft lavender scent. Florblanca is right - truly a dream fragrance!
