Don't Force Me to Sin ..

A song from Bosnia, likely brought to the Balkans by the Ottomans from the Orient, fits this fragrance like a glove. It scatters massive sand dunes over a landscape that can also bloom in vibrant colors. Lost in thought, I stand in the desert. First caught by the heat, then embraced by biting cold. All of this is flooded with rose petals settling on the dusty ground. A timid note of musk spreads in the background. Resinous streams adorn everything finely, allowing themselves to be caressed by soft leather - I let myself be guided by quiet music that swings before me, so close yet so far, making the space tremble. Everything is somehow tangled - I can't keep up. Here the rose - there the desert. There the warmth, here the cold. In the heart, the naturalness, deep inside the synthesis. Everything is quite angular, spicy, and yet shimmering with gold. There is no progression for me here, only the lines where I deeply reflect..

How are you this evening, my beauty -
Wrapped in this white silk caftan?
The night of sin quickly envelops us.
Old, festering wounds awaken once more.

And she doesn't know that I am no longer the person I once was.
The one who wanted to drink happiness from wine.
She doesn't know that I am a mad poet.
The sick among the sick.

Here! - I give you everything. Tears of joy and also laughter.
Just, don't force me to sin.
Here! - I give you everything. Everything I am willing to die for.
Just, don't force me to sin.

Tonight I am the sailor of God's harbor.
Docked at the driest desert on earth.
Tonight I am the boat, amidst the universe.
Tonight I am your servant..

Just, don't force me to sin.
For if I sin, I will devour you and have no sense of life for the rest of my days.

(The longevity is brutal - the sillage embraces many figures. I ponder and am moved! Is this meant for men? But I also like it on my skin)

The Pulse of the Rose and My Gift to You
Badiah is my welcome gift to all of you at Parfumo
Badiah is part of my most beautiful memories of Dubai, and one of my most treasured finds. The lovely Althea has already described Badiah very beautifully. I greatly appreciate her analytical approach and accurate description. What surprised me the most when I finally registered at Parfumo after all those years of silent observation was the astonishment that, despite the immense number of participants, no one had ever heard of Badiah.
It did not appear in any comments.

I discovered Badiah in Dubai, at Syed Junaid Alam himself.
I was out with my wife, strolling through the souk of the Dubai Mall. I was wearing the traditional attire, a long white shirt typical for Arab men. Since I am half Oriental myself and know that presenting oneself in a culturally appropriate manner opens doors, this is usually a great advantage. I was, as always, in search of the holy grail, and I was about to find it. We were admiring Junaid's treasure chamber.

Junaid himself was present.
A very warm man with kind eyes and a humble demeanor. After a brief exchange of pleasantries and the question about my preferred fragrance notes, he introduced me to Badiah.
It was his latest creation. One thing upfront... I had not been looking for a rose scent! Rose is very much favored by men in Arab countries, a note I had never preferred or wanted.

This one was different, completely different; it was a dream.
Never in my life would I have thought that a rose-oud-musk fragrance could appeal to me so much. One of the most beautiful rose scents that has ever come under my nose. One of the most remarkable characteristics of Badiah is its pulse; it has the pulse of a Fars, Amber, or Musk Star. I know all three. It is a note that is present in all three. It constantly pulses in its aura; for me, it is the so-called Xerjoff DNA. It is a gentle whip of musk and oud. The musk is as soft as liquid, creamy cotton candy.
The oud is as soft and smooth as melting, warm nougat.
And a rose that probably grows on Venus.
Badiah is, for me, a personal masterpiece!
To create something like this from just three fragrance notes is grandiose.
Since that day, I wear it with pride, a rose scent that I never wanted.
There are only two fragrances that I exclusively wear in Dubai and Abu Dhabi,... Badiah and Dhofar; they interpret for me the Arab lifestyle of the man and the country very accurately.
The fragrance is hardly available in Europe and very expensive outside of Europe according to my own research.
Since I bought four fragrances from Syed at once... two for me and two for my wife, I can hardly say what it cost me.
In my opinion, it was around €100.
It is worth three times that! Should I be in Dubai again, my first stop will be a visit to Syed Junaid Alam, still an unknown genius of fragrances for all of us.

Thank you once again for my warm welcome at Parfumo
and I hope my little gift to you brings you joy.

Insallah....Can

Insider Tip
Curiously, I test the sample that I received from dear Can, thank you very much. I find it very helpful when reference fragrances are mentioned in a comment. And Fars, Amber Star, and Star Musk play in a very high league for me. So I had to test Badiah.
We have a beautiful rose oud fragrance here. The opening begins with a dark, smoky rose. At first, the rose is clearly in the spotlight; the opening reminds me of thirty three, while Badiah appears sweeter, powdery, and creamier. And somehow rounder. Oud is clearly noticeable, very fine in the background, dark, smoky, and resinous. No barnyard and also no hairspray note.
However, Amber Star and Star Musk are only hinted at. I mainly smell rose oud, but that is very nice.
Test recommendation for the Parfumos who enjoy this.
And: how and where to acquire Badiah and what the price is, I unfortunately do not know.

Addendum: In the drydown, Badiah is soft, musk comes strongly powdery to the forefront, in contrast to thirty three completely without patch.

The well-known fragrance theme this time with a stronger focus on rose, oud rather medicinal, musk subtly animalistic. Beautiful.
