When it's hot outside and I'm not quite sure which perfume I want to wear, especially when there's no specific occasion, I'm not going out, but just want to smell fresh, I like to reach for Nero by Kappa. Recently, it was one of those days again, and when I wanted to write a comment about the scent, I was quite astonished: My favorite scent from the Kappa line is not even listed on Parfumo? That had to change! Kappa Nero deserves a place in the Parfumo database, and I'm even more surprised that it hasn't been missed so far, as I believe it is the best scent in the entire line and wonderfully refreshing on summer days like we are currently experiencing. (If someone could contribute a picture, I would be very pleased.)
Kappa Nero actually belongs to my partner, who also appreciates it as a casual scent, but I find the fragrance to be distinctly unisex; it is admittedly very sporty, but absolutely suitable for women. The scent starts citrusy, with lime, bergamot, and lemon bringing a summery-aquatic freshness (which many hate, I’m not averse to it), and the rosemary makes everything interesting. On my skin, the citrus freshness is immediately complemented by a floral soapiness, but this is not biting or sharp, rather fresh-soapy, which I find pleasant, although I can imagine that it may not appeal to everyone. I clearly perceive the freesia, but probably not the cyclamen (do they even smell?), the patchouli quickly makes its presence known, however, it comes across as fresh-fruity and remains bright due to the many citrus notes and the freesia. I do not recognize coriander, which I naturally attribute to my untrained nose. Cedar and musk form, along with oakmoss and the previously mentioned patchouli, the base according to the fragrance pyramid, but for me, it flows together with the top and heart notes; Kappa shows hardly any notable scent progression on my nose. One must not forget that the EdT is very inexpensive compared to others, so one cannot expect the great perfumer's art or a finely differentiated fragrance pyramid in detail; however, for the price, Nero clearly belongs to the better scents in the drugstore price segment, in my opinion. Our bottle is almost empty, and we will definitely repurchase it.
Scent: starts citrusy fresh and is immediately complemented by a floral soapiness, along with a fruity patchouli note in a cedar-musk garb, no notable scent progression, everything follows closely together. The scent is sporty-aquatic-fresh, a citrus soap scent.
Longevity: Rather weak, as is usual with primarily citrus scents. After 3-4 hours, reapplication is necessary.
Sillage: Pleasant. The scent is noticeable, but not a sillage powerhouse.
Target group: I perceive the scent as absolutely unisex, sporty-young.
Occasion: Spring and summer, everyday wear, not an evening or going-out scent, also not necessarily a distinguished companion for work or a (first) date, but a well-groomed casual scent for "in between," the price-performance ratio is top.
