Rosa Kappa 2010

I am from the decade and part of the world, when/where Kappa was one of the trendy brands. The cool kids wore sweatshirts in strong colours with the famous logo, the couple situated sitting back to back. I did not wear these sweatshirts. My parents pretty much decided what clothes I wore, especially my mum, since they were the ones who paid for them. And even though my mum listened, she still had to think financially. She bought the clothes for me and my brother.
I wanted to wear the nice clothes, but I also knew that my mum could not afford it. So for some years a Kappa sweatshirt was permanently on my wish list for Christmas and my birthday. I had to wait until I earned my own money, though, and at that time my style had changed severely, and I now went to flea markets to add to my wardrobe.
Kappa Rosa is not a very good fragrance. No matter how many times I try it I get the feeling that this is a low quality product. I do not like the bottle and I do not like the smell. I am happy that it did not cost me a lot - like the sweatshirt would have cost my mum. It is not worth it.

Good evening, you noses :D

Today I’m describing a rather mediocre fragrance, namely Rosa by Kappa, which smells very much like flowers, and as you probably know, I’m not a big fan of too many flowers in fragrances, as they tend to smell too stuffy for me at some point. But since I have a sample, I can at least annoy you with a (rather) trivial comment, right?

It’s actually quite difficult to find suitable words for a fragrance that is rather unremarkable. If it at least smelled terrible, one could write something biting, but as it is… well… I have no idea. I’m also never sure if it’s just my personal perception, as I sometimes tend to scream “STUFFY” at every fragrance that contains flowers :D

So it’s quite possible that this fragrance could appeal to some, although there are definitely better and more beautiful floral fragrances out there :D

The fragrance starts off fresh and floral with freesias, accompanied by light fruity notes, although both the peaches and plums are a bit weak here. The fruity notes quickly fade, making the fragrance increasingly floral. A little later, you can perceive the sweet jasmine, along with roses and a hint of lily of the valley. The fragrance also smells slightly stuffy (I did say I would write that :D), but I actually imagined it to be even stuffier due to the many floral notes.
From the base, there’s a hint of vanilla and tonka bean, which give the fragrance that typical, pleasant, and powdery note, while the flowers always remain in the foreground.
In the background, there are hinted woody notes, but unfortunately, the coffee is hardly noticeable. After about an hour, the floral notes become the main scent notes, making the later base truly stuffy :DD

The sillage is below average, not projecting strongly and therefore better smelled up close. However, the fragrance will creep back into your nose from time to time. The longevity is about four to five hours, which is average.

The bottle is very simple and in shades of pink. It is rectangular or slightly oval with a similarly shaped cap. There’s no label on the front; instead, you see the well-known Kappa logo. Well, there are prettier bottles!

Now, this fragrance offers, as described, numerous floral notes, all of which smell a bit stuffy, especially in the base. Aside from that, the fragrance doesn’t offer anything else; the stuffiness unfortunately intensifies over time. The Kappa fragrance can be categorized alongside brand fragrances like s.Oliver, Polo, etc… they might be somewhat solid, but as mentioned, they don’t offer anything new and simply smell average, although the jasmine at the beginning is admittedly quite nice, especially in combination with the vanilla.

This fragrance is best worn in spring and summer (although I would find it too overwhelming in summer, as I would hardly be able to breathe due to all the stuffy notes, *gag* :D). Suitable as a simple and inconspicuous daytime or casual fragrance. However, it’s far too trivial for going out. You can actually leave it aside, and there’s no need to test it.
