You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
One of my absolute favorite fragrances, if not my favorite fragrance of all time.
I discovered this scent during my training period in Cologne. You have to imagine, I was a total country kid, and I really mean a rural village in the positive sense ;-)
Then I had to travel to Cologne every day for my training. I was so impressed. So many shops and such a huge Douglas.
After work, when I had to wait longer for my train again, which happened often, I always went into Douglas. I tried all sorts of fragrances.
But then..... I discovered this bottle. D'ligt by Lancaster. I bravely sprayed it directly on my wrist and was immediately catapulted to a beautiful white sandy beach with turquoise blue sea. That had never happened to me before.
From then on, I went to Douglas every day, even if I had to hurry in between to spray this scent on myself. I wanted it so badly, but it was so expensive and I only had my training salary.
But when I received my first Christmas bonus, I treated myself to it.
I think you can wear it anytime. Sure, D'light is technically a summer perfume, but it’s not too overwhelming, and how often do you wish for summer to return even in winter?
About the scent:
I mainly smell blood orange and peach, but I believe it’s underlined with white musk. It never becomes too intrusive or too fruity.
There are perfumes that literally bombard you with fruits. You know what I mean. Bam, here’s a pineapple, and bam, because it was so nice, here’s a banana too. It’s nothing like that. It caresses the skin. I find it fresh and very sensual. It lasts up to 5 hours on me. Additionally, it’s not a spray but more like water. You spray it on and then rub it in. The gold particles do their part and give a nice glow, but don’t worry, it’s not over the top. The skin feels really soft afterward. I’ve received many compliments for this scent.
When my training ended and I had a permanent job, I wanted to buy it again. But I had to find out that it was taken off the market in Germany. I still remember being shocked and quite angry as I stomped out of Douglas.
I always tried to find a replacement, but I never really succeeded.
Sure, I have many fruity scents in my collection that I also like very much, but D'light was just totally different.
Only this year did I discover it again on eBay. I jumped at the chance immediately. On the way back from the post office, I just prayed, please let it not be tipped over, please let it not be tipped over.
But no, it wasn’t tipped over. I sniffed it and was back at my beautiful sandy beach with my turquoise blue sea!
