Not an Aventus Clone
Fresh fruity musk. Juicy apple, blackcurrant, and citrus notes smoothed by a light floral mid and sweet green patchouli & oakmoss base. Pithy citruses bolster the musk, giving it a very dry and thick feeling which the jasmine aerates to an almost fluffy texture. Moderate projection for 2-3hr, longevity 10-12hr.

The note breakdown screams "Aventus clone" and while it gives off that initial impression, with a sharp blackcurrant plus bergamot that smells like pineapple (similar to Montblanc Explorer or Electimuss Imperium), it comes closer to something like Xerjoff Accento. It has none of the smokiness of Aventus, plus it's more floral and especially musky. Clearly in the style, yet just as clearly doing its own thing.

Multifaceted, blended, semi-fresh, nicely put together
The newest Happyland release, Shameless, is the first explicitly fresh / warm-weather-targeted offering by EJ Wells. It clearly has a citrus/fruity side to it but also a woody, slightly herbal dry down, that smells sort of tobacco-like but is likely a function of the patchouli and oakmoss, modulated by lavender and rose, with a dry down of musk and vanilla. So it’s fresh, citric, musky, a little fruity (apple, blackcurrant), with a floral, patchouli-laden heart. Overall, it feels very well blended and I actually do not regard it as overwhelmingly a warm-weather fragrance, myself, with some of the deeper elements giving it a year-round and even nighttime sort of versatility, and it leans slightly masculine but not significantly so, in my opinion.

To the obvious question, Shameless does not remind me of anything specifically, which is mainly to its credit in that it’s not excessively any one of its descriptors nor too familiar, but it does have a certain familiarity, sort of a designer/niche crossover which, again, even though it’s not a listed note, gives me a bit of a tobacco vibe, specifically in the dry down, which I take to be a function of the patchouli, rose, lavender, oakmoss, and woods, specifically.

Shameless is priced similarly to other recent Happyland releases, at $55 for 50ml, $42 for 30ml, very reasonable, with samples available for $7. The performance seems to be quite good, as well. Certainly I’d recommend that those interested check this one out.

Fresh fruity musk. Juicy fruits fluffed up by a light floral mid and sweet green patchouli & oakmoss base. Closer to Accento than Aventus.
