Sparkling Lemon Fountain
I always enjoy reading when "journeys come to an end," perfumes have been found and discovered - scents that have come to stay. The one citrus fragrance that can perfectly balance the spotlight lemon for me (!) I had not yet found - and it has truly been a long journey…
There are quite a few references when beautiful lemony-citrusy scents come together. There were big hellos at Xerjoff's "Nio," Profumum Roma's power lemon "Acqua Viva," or "Blue Mandarine"; exotic niche realms with Miya Shinma ("Mizu"), lovely oranges at Afternoon Swim, or citrusy vetiver/vetiver-like citrus at Bergamote22 from Le Labo, or even Givenchy's "Gentleman Givenchy Cologne." These are probably also the two that are closely related to "Silk." They are all great fragrances. I must also add Guerlain's grapefruit-bergamot "L'Homme Idéal Cologne," which has that special twist (almond). To this day, I do not understand why they discontinued it; it had something…
"Silk" may be a conglomerate of these three, at least it carries their vibe - if you know what I mean.
The special thing about "Silk," which is not easy to describe, is that it is just a citrus-fresh scent from an Italian tailor designer I - with all due respect - did not know at all. The expectation when testing was "interested" and not hype-driven, which certainly contributed to the later surprise.
From the start, you are doused with a bucket of sparkling water mixed with freshly squeezed lemon juice and peels. SPLASH! Mandarin and orange splashes come right along. The special quality described above is already hinted at: This lemon does not sting. It is hard to describe; it does not aim between your eyes when you take a deep breath. The fine Italian is quickly aided by a heart of tonka, which, compared to Guerlain's "L'Homme Idéal Cologne" almond, is even more subdued and not really discernible. Apparently, it cleverly cuts off the high and glass-cutting lemon frequencies. I appreciate this tonka software; it works incredibly quietly in the background.
Sage supports and vetiver is allowed to work - all so finely woven that both can only be recognized by fans of Parfumo. "Atanarjuat, so the twist is even better than with Guerlain!?" "Correct, for me it is, as it is very subtle!" An idealistic, soft - only slightly creamy - lemon scent emerges.
That in the end the obligatory representatives moss and cedar calm and sprinkle a little strictness - that's a given. You know it - I like it. The whole thing is also much more finely balanced in the base than, for example, in the latest "Hero" from Burberry.
I found it nice that "Silk" can sparkle for quite a long time. The source runs dry after half a day and is still well perceivable until then. It stays close to the skin until the evening, and nuances can still be smelled with your nose on your arm the next morning after waking up. A really good performance for the Freshie category!
"Silk" is thus a rounded, clear, silky-smooth-sparkling fountain of pure joy, versatile to wear, and a great scent for summer!
