Not my type
A reproduced Oud, from Alaskan cedar wood, which has incensed and leathery nuances.
At the beginning this fragrance deceived me, the illusion of agarwood is very strong, but then everything fades away to give way to woody and smoky accents.
Unfortunately this brand hasn't managed to impress me with any fragrance yet, let alone this one.
What a mess.

I was "fluenced" ..
I bought the fragrance as a blind buy because I had seen an Instagram reel shortly beforehand in which the actor Ncuti Gatwa reports that he receives a lot of compliments about his fragrance. It's not entirely clear from the video which one he has, as some of the bottles look very similar and the fox didn't mention which fragrance it was in the video either... after a lot of speculation in the comments, I went for the Perfect Oud because I liked the scents.

Before I get ripped apart, a- I'm new here and b- I'm not good at describing things, unfortunately... :D

I have to say that despite wearing quite a few fragrances, whether designer or niche, I have yet to find the perfect scent. The only "niche" fragrance that gave me a feeling of "this is it - the perfect fragrance" was Creed Aventus back then, it was that wow effect I had about 15-20 years ago as a teenager with Boss Bottled, Acqua di Gio, Le Male, back then. Since then, I've been searching (in vain) for my signature fragrance.

All I can say about the fragrance is that it comes very close to that "wow effect" feeling. Although I have an immigrant background and come from the Middle East, or rather my parents do, I don't really like sweet, heavy fragrances and fragrances with oud, if I may be a little stereotypical. I like fresh, sporty, citrusy fragrances, at least in most cases.

This fragrance is one of my favorites at the moment, it has something fresh, something soft, something creamy and the oud is very subtle for me, so perfect for people who want to make friends with oud. I work with patients in the medical field and the fragrance is in my office, so I can always add it from time to time, the fragrance has never been a sour note, but unfortunately never positive either, at least I haven't gotten any feedback, but to anticipate that I have never done that before, that should make me think :D.

I think the fragrance is great and would buy it again and again for a blind buy. Thanks for reading.

Shock and reconciliation
It was summer and hot when I bought a small sample of Perfect Oud - inspired by the many positive reviews here. Full of expectations, I unwrapped the bottle and sprayed some on my wrist. And then the absolute shock: it smelled like a very dirty kind of cowshed! Where was the fresh, clean and perfect water that was praised in the reviews? I was stunned and had to rinse the stuff off my wrist after a while. I also put the monster under my sweetheart's nose, but she didn't think it was that bad and only said that she didn't like the scent. You're all out of your minds, I think to myself, fie on you!
The bottle ended up at the back of the cupboard, because I wouldn't even give THAT scent to anyone else! Who wants to smell like a cow's ass? But bought is bought and maybe layering something daring or something.

A few months go by, December is just around the corner and I stumble across Perfect Oud again while browsing the internet and I think to myself: why not try it again from the bottle at the back of the cupboard, just for fun. I'm home alone for a few hours today and can smell as I like.

No sooner said than done and, well, what can I say... so either my nose had a kink in it in summer or the juice is no good in the heat!

I was shocked again: no cowshed far and wide! It reveals a beautifully crafted fragrance, starting with a rose that harmonizes well with a neat, clean leather note. However, I don't notice anything of bergamot. The rose fades quite early on and a nice warm oud pushes its way out while the leather continues. After a while, it becomes cleanly woody and the leather is still quietly there. Sillage and longevity are not moving: after 3 hours, my daughter (who can be very critical) didn't make a comment after greeting me, and after 6 hours, my sweetheart didn't even give me an oblique look. However, I can still smell the fragrance close to my body after 9 hours and like to sniff around my hairy décolleté.

I have reconciled myself with Perfect Oud, I am glad that I tested it again and that it took me on this interesting fragrance journey. It was a nice trip, but I wondered when I would wear this fragrance? Most likely at home in the warmth of my own nest, but I have other fragrances that I would rather wear and that my sweetheart likes. That's why I won't be buying the fragrance for the time being, but I'm sure it will pop into my scent memory from time to time and maybe at some point it will become a desire that drives me to buy it. It wouldn't be the first time. And I know now that in the summer sh.... can't show its strength.

Perfection takes time
Some perfumes you fall in love with at first sniff, some just need a little time and in very rare cases a great transformation takes place - that's what happened to me with Perfect Oud. Its name is already very questionable because oud can have extremely different facets and the ideas of what constitutes a perfect oud fragrance also differ greatly. To say it up front: I am definitely glad that there is no noticeable animal note here and that Mizensir and Alberto Morillas honestly state that they only want to evoke burnt oud, although it is obvious that real oud is used in very few cases anyway.

In oud accords, i.e. the 'reproduction' of oud through the combination of certain fragrances, a leathery note is often used. When I first tested Perfect Oud, I could almost only perceive leather and dry wood, so I was quite disappointed. On the one hand, the fragrance seemed very dense, but at the same time it was rather close to the skin. But there was something about it that fascinated me, so I gave it another try and suddenly I could smell the bergamot and a subtle spicy-woody freshness. However, I still found Perfect Oud a little too staid and the woody, leathery base prevailed again. Sometimes it just takes time and so I put the bottle away and only tested it again weeks later.

Once again, my wrist kept wandering under my nose because I noticed that the rose did not exude the typical opulence here, but instead provided a softer texture in contrast to the rather rugged base. The woody duo itself has aromatic and slightly smoky facets, but doesn't come across as heavy as one might fear. To my delight, iris is very restrained (I don't like overly powdery notes) and coriander doesn't push itself to the fore either. Most of the notes here do not appear in a natural form, but seem more diffuse and almost sterile, but this is precisely where the elegance of the fragrance lies.

Perfect Oud is a far cry from the usual rose ouds and heavy orientals. It has a synthetic-transparent effect, more light than fresh and has a consistently perceptible woody-leathery accord that also has a little warmth, which prevents the overall composition from appearing too distant. After wearing it for a while, I can also say that it lasts very well, with a long-lasting sillage that does not overwhelm the surroundings, but should not be underestimated. For me, Perfect Oud is therefore very suitable for the office and for serious occasions, because it perfectly embodies a modern suit fragrance.

Oud can also be gentle
Perfect Oud by Mizensir is a fragrance that immediately won me over with its gentle and elegant aura. The oud takes center stage, but it is surprisingly soft and discreet, almost like a gentle embrace. In addition to the rather warmer woody note and this fine leatheriness, a subtle rose is also noticeable, which gives the fragrance a beautiful floral-woody overall picture and ensures a beautiful deep character. The whole thing is accompanied by a light freshness from the bergamot, which makes it neither too heavy nor too overwhelming.

For me, this fragrance has a quiet elegance. It is unobtrusive and yet special. The fragrance tends to remain close to the skin, but unfolds a warm, inviting presence when close at hand.

It lasts around 6-8 hours on my skin and the sillage is rather subtle. In my eyes, this makes it an ideal companion for everyday wear or for moments when you want to wear something sophisticated without attracting attention. My new signature fragrance.

Never thought I’d put “soft”, “fresh”, and “oud” together in a description. It really is the perfect oud. Ncuti Gatwa was right to gatekeep.

On my skin: delicious, fresh-sweet-peppery cocoon of woody notes. Almost gourmand with its cleanness and sweet notes. Pretty, so pretty!

Deep and harmonious. Nothing jumps out: neither oud, nor leather, nor sweetness, nor florality. Everything results in elegant versatility.

Surprisingly fresh rose-oud. Airy rose + very woody oud with a dusting of coriander. Leathery undertone that strengthens as it dries down.
