The sweet M3T4M0RPH ԅ(≖‿≖ԅ)
With Vurv being another budget sub-brand of Lattafa (or so I've heard), it's no wonder that this fragrance has a very similar backbone to that of the original Khamrah, and to a lesser extent, some of the other Kilian takes like Zimaya's Sharaf Blend. To me, the resemblance of the sweet woody amber heart was unmistakable. However, that's not all it has. Despite its meager price, this fragrance is such a shape-shifter that it's really difficult to pin it at times. To me, it's the very definition of a hybrid metamorph, combining elements from Khamrah, 1 Million Prive, Baldessarini edc, Legend Intense, Sauvage edt and a sweet tea-ish musk from a fragrance I can't even recall atm. Bits of every fragrance pop up now and again - especially when sprayed under the clothing - leaving me either smiling, confused or regretful that I've just wasted money on another redundant scent. But is it really as good as the ratings make it seem? Let's find out.

Firstly, the box is kinda cheap. Kinda really cheap. Basically just a cardboard cut-out with the bottle sitting loosely inside and a sleeve that slides down over both. However, the bottle itself actually isn't bad. The smooth black finish is definitely somewhat of a fingerprint magnet and came a tiny bit scuffed, but the cap clicks on and the atomizer is VERY good for a budget fragrance. That was a pleasant surprise. The overall shape isn't great though. Reminds me of a slimmer version of the Mont Blanc Legend series of bottles, though not as easy to hold. The cap is reminiscent of Qaed al Fursan, albeit better, heavier, squished and not magnetized. The entire package does feel pretty sturdy in the hands though and nothing jiggles or wobbles. Giggity.

On skin, the opening spray is a super lovely sweet red apple and musk from Legend Intense combining with the warm orange top from Baldessarini edc. The woody amber is also noticeable in the background, but nowhere near as loud and screechy as most middle eastern dupes these days. Literally seconds later, the scent morphs into the bubblegum from 1 Million Prive and lulls you into a false sense of satisfied placation. Wonderful. So it's a clone then. Well, NO. Because another 30 seconds later, here comes the woody amber base of Khamrah out in full force combining with the warm lavender heart of Sauvage to change the fragrance again, albeit not exactly for the better or worse. It's a legit mind-f** believe me.

After that, things start to settle into this melting pot blend of sweet who-knows-what that mostly vacillates between Khamrah and 1 Million Prive, depending on which compounds decide to fly off of the skin at any given moment. One time while wearing a good 8 sprays under the skin, I could've SWORN that I was wearing the Paco outright as it permeated through my sweater and into my surrounding scent cloud about 2 hours in. So I pulled up my sleeve, sniffed it up close and there was Khamrah with a bit of that Sauvage/Legend lavender wafting back at me. I honestly didn't know how to feel. Amused? Confused? Fused to the muse I think.

And the party doesn't stop there. As it dries down, the woody amber becomes a bit more scratchy and obvious in the sillage, while the fruitiness dies down a bit. The scent is no less pleasant at a distance though, and more of Legend Intense pops up now and again. It's a rollercoaster is all I'll say. And even as I'm writing this, I can smell 1 Million Prive again. Insane.

Anyway, getting to the important bit, since this stuff is still relatively dirt cheap, is it redundant if you already have Khamrah or something similar? My immediate response would be yes, but it also has a few interesting and more mass-appealing twists in it that I actually prefer myself. In fact, if it were a choice between Khamrah and this one, I'd likely choose this one every time. And not just because the bottle is significantly easier to hold. But is it a great clone of 1 Million Prive? Once again, my immediate response would be no; but for me, it actually scratches the itch and the longevity is certainly there. It's also far more interesting and has a better atomizer. Strangely enough, despite the Vurv Parfums website listed on the box no longer existing, my bottle was stamped as made in 2024 so maybe they finally threw in the towel this year? If so, the value will only increase with time.

So I suppose the bottom line is that I do like it. At its very core it's certainly a modern sweet woody amber (a style of fragrance that I generally despise), but it's also not exactly a synthetic punch to the face and such a metamorph that it keeps things interesting. Are the unusually high ratings across platforms justified? Personally I don't think so...but it's close, considering the price. Not a fan of the cheap presentation, but the bottle really isn't bad and the scent DOES get better with time in the bottle. Can't say that it's a better straight up dupe of 1M Prive than PC's Milano Prive; but if you're looking for more of a hybrid, this could satisfy the fix. It did for me. An autumn and winter scent through and through. >>>

Very helpful Review 11
Simply wow!!! What 15 Euros
This is my first review that I am writing, as the perfume has convinced me in every respect.

I rate this scent as unique and not as a dupe. I have never smelled the Prive either.

Starting with the scent, what can I say, it begins pleasantly fresh and later transforms into a kind of apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon. In addition, it gives off such a lovely warmth that simply makes you happy. Fireplace vibes in the late evening. ️

When you look at the entire fragrance pyramid, one might think that it is very overpowering. (Lattafa Khamra)
To my surprise, that was not the case. Very soft. I was able to try it out at work. And what can I say? People asked, they smelled, and compliments were given.
Very nice.

The eyes grew wider, especially when asked what the fragrance costs.

The money you have to pay for it is ridiculous. There are designers who sell for too much money and don't even come close to it.

I would wear this scent on a date even if I weren't a happy family man, because the scent attracts you. Very sexy and seductive.

The bottle is beautifully black and surprisingly very high quality. Solid with a good spray. (one million yuck)

Longevity is also very good. Even after days, I noticed the scent on my clothes.

Sillage is convincing in all areas. And no, there were not 10 sprays applied

This scent was bought blind by me, conclusion: I was convinced!!!

I wish that the scent gets more attention, especially here on Parfumo.
I am sure it could win many hearts of perfume lovers and make some very happy.

This is love at first sniff

A good & affordable alternative to PR Privé
"1 Million Privé | Paco Rabanne" doesn't really need much description or introduction.
For many, it's the best from the house of PR.
I myself am also a big fan of it, so I was disappointed when it was discontinued.

With "Royce Black | Vûrv," there is finally a good alternative that is also quite affordable.
In the opening, I initially thought hmmm is this supposed to be a clone of Privé?
Yes, there are similarities, but the Vûrv is definitely fresher, more synthetic, and of simply lower quality compared to Privé.

Only in the drydown does it become clear, yo this is definitely Privé.
This legendary apple pie with cinnamon that some also describe as shisha tobacco with cinnamon can be found in Royce Black.
A bit more synthetic than in the original, but in the air, that hardly stands out.

I would say if you smell it very close to the skin, the two fragrances might resemble each other by about 70%+.
If you smell it in the air, then I would say the similarity is easily 90%+.
My brother owns the perfume as well, and when I smelled it on him, I could have sworn it was Privé.
The longer you wear it, the harder it becomes to distinguish the clone from the original.

But enough of the comparisons.
How exactly does it smell now?!
I would describe it as cinnamon-y in a pleasant way.
Because cinnamon in perfume can sometimes be very overwhelming, but that's not the case here, the cinnamon is very smooth.
And then I perceive something that reminds me of a delicious apple strudel or apple pie.
So it's quite spicy and sweet overall, but all within a very pleasant framework.
Nothing that would be too much or would get on your nerves after a while.
Everything is very, very pleasant and overall a very nice scent.

Now to the performance.
I myself become quite nose-blind like with the original.
I don't know why that is, but in many designer fragrances, there's something that makes me nose-blind.
However, with my brother, I could still perceive it very well after 2 hours from a distance of about 2.5 meters.
This means even if you can no longer smell it yourself, others around you will still be able to perceive it.
It's neither a beast nor is the performance weak.
I would say it's a good middle ground, but for €15.99, that's completely fine.

A fragrance for colder days, like many other sweet scents.
However, you can easily wear it at work because, as mentioned, it never becomes too overwhelming.

My conclusion: The best alternative to Privé that I have tested so far.
Sweet, spicy, delicious, for a small price you get a lot here.
Even the bottle, which looks like cheap plastic in the picture, is actually made of very thick, heavy glass, respect to Lattafa for that.
If you like Privé and can no longer or do not want to pay that high price online, I would definitely recommend giving Royce Black a chance.
I am definitely more than satisfied, a blind buy that was worth it.

Hey Jeremy: This is how cinnamon works!
At the very beginning of my perfume journey, I stumbled upon (who would have thought) the good Jeremy and his videos on YouTube. In one of them, he discussed a fragrance that has almost nothing in common with this one, namely 360° Red for Men. Of course, this was compared to Acqua di Giò pour Homme Eau de Toilette, but it was supposed to be more modern or youthful due to the cinnamon included. “Can you imagine that, folks? Cinnamon!” were Jeremy's exact words. After the aforementioned 360° Red arrived at my place, I could rightly say: Nope, I can't. I like it, very much actually, but cinnamon does not come through at all in this fragrance.

Fast forward, the collection (wildly) grows and thrives, and eventually it was time for Royce Black by Vurv. Ordered with a leap of faith as a sub-brand of Lattafa, it was opened, sprayed 3 times on the forearm, sniffed, and BAM: Well, Jeremy: This is how cinnamon works! I could simply smell nothing but the aforementioned spice about 90% of the time. The other 10% leaned towards an (initially) indefinable sweetness.

Now that it has been used a few times, it presents itself on my skin and in my nose as a surprisingly monothematic fragrance. Not because it smells exclusively of a prominent note throughout, but rather because the theme is the smooth transition from the all-dominating cinnamon to the typically sweet-vanilla flair of tonka bean. Oranges, cloves? At most in homeopathic doses, if at all! Even amber and sandalwood, notes that can certainly set the tone, are reduced to scaffolding here - after all, there must be a stage for dancing. The scent progression is quite noteworthy, as the cinnamon does not simply shoot its load and then disappear. Instead, it initially stubbornly holds its dominance, but over time it continuously fades, allowing the vanilla tonka bean to take the lead, albeit without completely disappearing from the scene. Additionally, the sandalwood makes itself heard through a slight creaminess that develops later on, at least.

The longevity and thus the duration of this progression are surprisingly high (especially considering the price), but not surprising for a Lattafa fragrance. Double-digit hours are possible depending on the skin, though towards the end, it is of course only close to the skin. Furthermore, it seems to project quite well in the first few hours. “Seems”, because I can't assess it accurately due to my olfactory blindness, as it feels like an olfactory grenade to me if I'm not careful with the sprayer: One spray too many or a sniff too close, and the nose gets overwhelmed by the combination of cinnamon and pepper. Anyone who has ever smelled a glass of ground cinnamon knows where this is going. The dominance of the two mentioned main players leaves almost no room for the other notes to unfold, giving the nose plenty of opportunity to get used to them. Once the tonka bean has risen to the dominant note, the sweetness becomes perceptible again, but by then the fragrance may already be close to the skin, presumably depending on the wearer's skin and nose. Outsiders may perceive it differently.

A few brief sentences about the bottle: Massive, black glass that feels premium, although it is kept in a rather unspectacular shape. It also has a sprayer that does not dispense the largest amount of perfume, which in this case is a plus! On top, there is a metal cap that clicks into place and can hold the bottle despite its noticeable weight. Why (significantly) more expensive brands can't achieve such things is something only their business departments know. No reason for criticism whatsoever.

Whether you like Royce Black largely depends on whether you like cinnamon or want to smell like it. Personally, I own other fragrances that play the tonka or vanilla theme better, because they are more complex and/or refined, so the cinnamon fireworks are not enough for me to rate it higher. It might find a place in a layering combination; for about €15, it is certainly not a total failure. However, for those who want to experience surprisingly authentic cinnamon through their nose: Add 1.5 - 2 points to my rating and go for it!

More Complex Than the Top Note Suggests
I am a proud owner of the Prive, although until recently I wasn't even aware that it had been discontinued.

While searching for another perfume, I stumbled upon the Royce in the seller's collection, looked at what was in it, and just bought it.
Blind buy....
When it arrived, it made me want to wear my dusty Prive again, the Prive on the left, the Royce on the right... And what can I say, the top note is dominant, very dominant! and everything else is complex... So I waited... And waited, and indeed the performance is so good that the top note, which resembles a one-way street, takes almost 2 hours to give way to the absolutely surprising heart note. And here we are, from one moment to the next, so complex that it is a pure joy. The sandalwood is so sweet and smooth, the cinnamon from the top note hasn't disappeared but has faded to the back, still perceptible in just the right measure. Light vanilla and oh so much more... The sillage is so good, although I only placed 2 sprays on my elbow and wrist, it surrounds me so strongly for so long as if I had used 5 sprays including behind the ears...

Oh yes, there's still the Prive on the other arm... I took a sniff... And what can I say, the Royce is simply rounder, tastier, and more pleasant. Furthermore, the Prive can't even compete with the longevity... All in all, I'm selling my Prive and keeping the Royce.

Backup bottle worthy! I know it doesn't have tobacco as a note, but it smells like the main players here are tobacco, cinnamon, and tonka.

The same melody.
If the 1 Million Prive is on the top notes, then Royce Black on the low notes.
I have both, full range.

The combination of orange/cinnamon/tonka bean is really well done here. A lovely blind buy scent for winter. Masculine. P/L top :)
