Burberry Brit Red meets Chôpard Madness
I had never even heard of Mandarina Duck before being sent this sample by generous Guusjes, so I googled them and discovered that they are a manufacturer of purses and bags. Okay, so perfume isn't really their thing, I guess...
Upon application, ROUGE INTENSE reminded me instantly of a hybrid between Burberry BRIT RED and Chôpard MADNESS. Lots of pepper going on here, but also a big sandalwood-vanilla presence very typical of many recent designer floriental launches. However, the wood in this composition seems much more about cedar than sandalwood to my nose, and the good news is that it does not manifest the cheap synthetic sandalwood surrogate tendency to turn sour or stale.
The quality of this perfume seems about appropriate for the price: this is not an example of haute parfumerie. On the other hand, it is wearable, so if you like BRIT RED but think it is too sweet, and you like MADNESS but think that it is too peppery, you might find ROUGE INTENSE to your liking.
