M Mariah Carey 2007 Eau de Parfum

I am skeptic about celebrity scents. My experience is that quite a few of them are about the bottle and less about the actual smell. It is not common to have both a beautiful smell and a nice looking bottle in the same perfume. Exceptions are, in my opinion, Sarah Jessica Parker’s Covet and Jennifer Lopez’s Deseo. But many of the other celebrity scents seem to try and hit as widely as possible by designing scents that are all about fruits and flowers or close-to-100% copies of already existing scents. Sadly, making a copy of a great scent does not make the copy great.
M by Mariah Carey is a decent scent in a decent bottle. I personally find the bottle design a bit childish, Mariah being 38 at the time of release in 2007. She could have hit a more classic note - but then again, she could done something else. We always can. And you will never make everyone happy. I just hope that she is satisfied with the looks of it, since she has used it for 13 of her perfumes. The colour is amazing, though.
The scent is sweet at first sniff. But the patchouli gives is a depth that really suits the scent. It does not last for more than three to four hours on me and sillage is an arms length.
This is the only Mariah Carey I have encountered. I am not extremely eager to smell others. I think I shall spend time on other scents instead.
