A bright fire blazes at the beginning of the beautiful season...
... on the night of May 1st, not only in Ireland/Scotland but also in Germany or Scandinavia (where a few witches join the fire...). Beltane marks the beginning of the summer half of the year and is the wedding festival of heaven and earth, bringing fertility and blessings. And fitting for this celebration, Cloon Keen throws us a beautiful bridal bouquet. "This is our most popular scent," whispers the now noticeably more engaged saleswoman. Mhhh, that might convince some bros looking for compliments - but not me per se. Just because all the lemmings jump off the cliff... and so on... well, since I'm already here, I might as well test it; when do you get the chance to get your hands on this Irish liquid gold again?

I still have free limbs to spray, and while Bel Étage gently washes its lavender towards me from the left in small waves, something is brewing on my right (please don't take that literally).

With an unexpected punch for Cloon Keen fragrances, the sun-ripened mandarin greets me, wonderfully unsweetened, combined with pepper/angelica. While the other scents are around 3 to 4 on the sillage scale from 1-10, we have a 6-7 here! Wow! For the first time, one has to think about the dosage - with the other fragrance colleagues, overdoing it is practically impossible. The olfactory seismometer is going off.

Just as I start to hesitate whether this might drift too much into the fruity direction, the heart note follows like a tsunami after the seaquake. I like roses, I like jasmine, and here both come fantastically without causing a headache, authentically floral and without any sugar coating. I would have guessed musk without knowing the fragrance pyramid, but okay, angelica root isn’t too far off. Beautifully balanced between opulent floral notes and a balsamic, warm creaminess - VERY feminine! But not in the direction of a sexy femme fatale, rather warm, soft, and secure... expressed in colors, white-yellow, no green.
I can elicit a "smells good" from my husband, who is a master of anti-compliments and a subtle flower hater! Just before the scent-knight accolade, so to speak.
[Note from the editor: Patchouli is conspicuously absent and is not missed further; the combination of neroli/patchouli usually sets off alarm bells for me (refreshing wipes)... here, there is no danger.]

Of the four Cloon Keen fragrances I know, Lá Bealtaine has the best longevity (followed by Bel Étage, then Báinín. Frosted Moon unfortunately disappeared extremely quickly on me).
Even my all-absorbing skin doesn’t swallow it, and I can still perceive it well after 5-6 hours.

A very lovely spring scent that, when carefully dosed, is also suitable for summer. I can only imagine that at very high temperatures, the flowers might become too much of a good thing. Name and thematic implementation are excellently executed, top-notch with stars.

Green, yes,
But quite pungent
florally underlined
subtly soapy
Has potential to annoy me...

A truly beautiful mix of soft citrus notes, rather bitter flowers, with a delicate green tint. Successfully calm.

Beltane - stem green draws in summer, inhabitants of the white-flowering fairy hills come to the tuberose-strong light. Winter is defeated.

Green, needle-woody, gentle, with a hint of flowers. Pleasantly dreamy.
