The Old Chapel

I walk up a small hill to the chapel. It is summer and the meadow here in Italy in Val Molini - near Lake Ledro - smells beautifully spicy and herbal. I arrive at the small, old chapel at the top. It smells of warm wood and old church benches. I step inside and inhale this woody, warm scent. I see two small church benches on the left and right and walk to the little altar at the front. Mary with the baby Jesus in her arms. I sit on a bench and enjoy the tranquility. I have arrived.

Now to this, for me, beautiful scent that evokes this lovely memory from my childhood. It starts woody, green and becomes beautifully warm, spicy and herbal as it develops. Wonderful!
