Fantastic daily scent
Picked up a decant of this first and loved it, saw a great deal on the full bottle and didn't think twice before I ordered. This is a really nice fresh and aquatic scent, and the coconut definitely gives it a tropical feel. It fits pretty much any day-to-day occasion and I think it would be a safe blind buy for just about anyone (unless you know you hate the notes that are present)

The bottle is simple and nothing too special, but the atomizer is pressurized which helps for this one. That bigger spray helps get a solid and even scent coating on your skin and/or clothes. That helps since this is a softer scent, and while it does last quite well, don't expect crazy projection once it dries down in ~30min. In my case I prefer that, since a strong projection would not be good for my line of work. Overall 10/10 and I'd recommend unless you don't like the tropical-fresh scent profile

The warmer the better for this one!
I got a free sample from somewhere about a month or two ago and was pretty surprised how good this was. At the time I had never heard of Michael Malul, but I ended up getting Ocean Noir since the summer season was coming and thought this will work well in warmer weather. Well, it's the summer now and it smells even better!

Up top I can get juicy manderin notes and aquatic notes follow quickly, providing a nice scent for hot days. For the life of me I cannot get coconut, it may be there, and I am just not placing it. The heart turns a little green and marine, and please read this in a positive light, it is very good if you could smell it, you may know what I mean. The words green and marine on paper don't sound appetizing, but trust me, it is a good heart. It dries down to a musky almost almondy note that works really well for those warm sunny days.

The dry down surprised me a little as it is quite a bit different than the top and the heart, but I like that. It's the journey through these notes that I find fun. This is not a knock on the scent, it is a plus in my book. It dries down light and interesting enough to reward the journey.

Surprising hit piece
In honor of being the first reviewer, let me splurge on the story.

I was at a perfume boutique in town, the only one, which does not give me great sensation. The owner sprays half a spray on tester strips and the Sephora worker next door said that she thought they sell fake fragrances. Now, I don't believe the last part.

This store must have a deal with Michael Malul London (actually from Ohio) because they have so many of their fragrances and it seems like they are desperate to sell them. The owner said "price is $110, but for you my friend $90" (this is the price you can get it for online from MML website, mind you on discounters it is the same price). But after I said that I have to think about it, the price dropped to $70. I think I could have haggled more, but I felt like $70 is a fair price to ask for this one.

Anyway, to the review. You may get the sense that I feel I got scammed with this purchase, but the truth is, I am very happy I got this. The bottle is very nice, hefty, the pressurised atomizer is the first in my collection, which I think is pretty neat.

The scent is, generally, marine. I struggle to find other notes than "marine" and the coconut in the opening. The downshift into heart and base is incredibly quiet, to the point where I don't notice a transition as other fragrances do if I am consistently smelling them. Under the ocean's surface, treasures await, a gentle, inviting sweetness and ambery-ness that clings to your skin like the salty sea water after you come out.

It is a dark blue scent, but not in a menacing way, but moreso in a pensive way. To me this is sunset on the beach in Peru with my grandparents when I was a child. It is that breeze that the sun carries on its way down over the Pacific. Its the smell of wet sand and sunscreen, the feeling you get when you breathe into your towel after drying your face. It's the knowing that you are away from the real world for a few weeks. It's the smell of new money that is too self-conscious to be loud and presuming, but wants to have a boat with a chef.

Its inoffensive and enjoyable at the same time, but distinguished enough from the gourmand trends I see on FragTok. You can wear this any time you want, forget about seasons, but frankly its sillage is on the poor side - it doesn't project well - a trait I have come to appreciate more lately, so probably summer will be better for it. It lasts a long time on my skin with minimal spraying.

Great job, Michael Malul. I will cherish this one for a while.

Beautiful Blue Notes
Ocean Noir is a fresh fragrance that evokes a clear day by the sea - cool, clean, and slightly creamy at the same time. From the very first spray, the blue, marine notes unfold, instantly reminding one of salty sea air and a gentle breeze. This freshness is accompanied by a hint of Minneola, which adds a zesty, citrusy lightness to the scent.

In the background, a very subtle coconut note resonates - never intrusive or sweet, but rather creamy and soft, like a shimmer of tropical warmth that rounds off the fragrance. The geranium, which can often be dominant in the heart note, fortunately remains completely in the background here and is practically imperceptible. Instead, seaweed and yarrow provide a slightly green, natural depth that harmonizes perfectly with the maritime character.

In the base, amberwood, tonka bean, and musk come into play - they give the fragrance a gentle warmth and an elegant trail without overshadowing the freshness.

Conclusion: Ocean Noir is a refined, fresh fragrance with clear, aquatic accents and a subtle coconut nuance in the background. Ideal for anyone who loves marine scents but is looking for something with more character and depth.

Probably the best aquatic-coconut perfume I've smelt so far. Perfect if you want to be fresh in a less lemon zesty way.

The best blue scent imo. 10 hours easily, very mass appealing but unique - creamy coconut, definitely great for summer.

Fruity and nice smelling last extremely good performance at least on my skin. The seaweed note is a little weird. Very unique.

Not a big fan of this, although it reminds me of the Cool Water I used to wear, and love, in the 90s.

An amazing aquatic fresh sweet yarrow in the breeze, with a creamy musk.

Fresh, aquatic notes meet dark, woody depth. Elegant and relaxed at the same time - a wonderfully balanced maritime fragrance.
