A Matter of Getting Used To
Today the weather is simply depressing - especially bad after a wonderfully warm summer weekend that we enjoyed with our motorcycles. But the weather can't be changed, at least it can be brightened up a bit with a fragrant soul-soother.
I tested Berlin a long time ago but couldn't get along with it. However, a while back, a sample of "For Her" found its way to me, and after wearing it 2-3 times, I couldn't understand how I ever didn't like it. Because with For Her, I had the same initial difficulties, and I perceived Berlin as a scent twin during my first test. So today I tested Berlin again and took a small bottle with me. I was also somewhat attracted by the advertising: a part of my relatives lives in Berlin, and I have been going there repeatedly throughout my life.
For me, the scent pleasantly stands out from the fruit-berry-cotton candy uniformity of recent years, regardless of the price range. Berlin starts off herbal and very intense, but it softens to a pleasant level after about 15 minutes. In the opening, I can clearly smell the pink pepper, which I really like in fragrances, as well as bergamot. Later, the lily comes into its own for me, followed by jasmine. I don't consciously perceive rose, but I do notice lily of the valley, even though it shouldn't be in there at all. The dry down consists of patchouli and cedarwood, and the musk is bearable for me as it is not too animalistic.
The longevity is really good; I can perceive the scent for about 5-6 hours, and it also withstands hand washing without any problems - tough luck for those who can't appreciate it. *g*
The bottle is a matter of taste, but there are certainly uglier ones. However, it is opaque, which I don't find too bad, as it protects the fragrance. With 30ml, I can neglect the fill level; 30ml lasts forever for me since I don't just have this fragrance here. ;-)
For me, the scent was simply a matter of getting used to it and shows me once again that it's worth testing a fragrance multiple times. Those who like the scents of N. Rodriguez might find some enjoyment in this one.
