Oh, when I look back now that summer seemed to last forever...
...And if I had the choice
Yeah, I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life..
I doubt that the Dubai-based fragrance house had the Bryan Adams song in mind when naming the fragrance (... "me and my baby in a 69" *cough cough*) but that's not how the musical part of my cerebellum works. I generally steer clear of most Dubai/UAE fragrances because they rarely meet my preferences, but if you can get a sample in the house, why not. And after all, neither oud nor incense was tampered with and it didn't scream 'gourmand' 10km into the wind, so it's being tested.
Naseem specializes in non-alcoholic, water-based perfumes. I already knew the slightly different consistency (white-milky) from J'adore Parfum d'Eau. Of course, there are advantages and disadvantages - a major minus point in my eyes is the poorer sprayability of the water-based fragrances. The finest mist is definitely not to be expected here.
Summer'69 is one of the few fragrances in which I can actually find almost all the components of the pyramid listed here. I often lose top notes or smell things that are not even listed - not so here. The fragrance starts with fruity multivitamin notes that make me think of ABC Juice. Yes, there is something indefinably green about it, which keeps the sweetness well in check.
Then the florals come around the corner in a really pretty, identifiable way. I would have weakened blindly under certain circumstances with the iris. Rose, jasmine and osmanthus and a (really only) hint of lily of the valley are easily recognizable.
After about 30 minutes, a delicate leather note creeps into the picture, much quieter than, for example, in French Leather Eau de Parfum. Add a few notes of amber-cream musk and you're done.
All in all, nothing that you don't already know, but also nothing that is massively disturbing. Lasts well, must be dosed carefully, as it is quite "loud" (therefore not a summer fragrance for me, as it quickly becomes too much of a good thing). Due to the floral opulence in the middle, I think it's more for women than unisex. Great price! Is' okay...
