A Temperate Climate Zone with Plenty of Grassland
Somehow, I think of Scotland or Ireland, both blessed with the sea, but also with plenty of grassland. Meadows, lush and juicy from a lot of rain, in winter temperatures rarely dropping below minus 2 or 3 degrees, yet rough, cool winds, often changing weather, all somehow rustic and not so well suited for sensitive weather-sensitive individuals.
Wind-tossed trees in damp, cool forests and scents that are hardly known here. The saltiness of the seawater, the pungent aromas of herbaceous plants, also the bright freshness of mints and "tea-like" notes of oregano and slightly bitter tarragon.
Those living by the sea have it not so easy. Spray washes against often rugged rocky coasts, especially in Scotland, the wind blows steadily and sometimes very damply, and although it’s not really cold, one is glad to have a thick windbreaker. And rubber boots. With which one trudges through the dampness. And yet, it all has its wild charm. The thoughts cast no dark shadows because the surroundings are very "demanding" and attention-seeking. It requires a love for the rough and rugged.
But especially Ireland also has its cheerful sides. The full green, the play of sun and clouds, the dance of the most diverse scents that are "born" at the "right" latitude and longitude. The contemplation of constant change, the patience with the elements. The cheerful and light-hearted as well as the melancholic.
All of this is contained in the beautiful fragrance I am currently wearing.
