Voyage Nautica 2006 Eau de Toilette

Since some people love it and others pretend it's garbage, I'd like to clear the whole thing up and add my two cents.

The opening is super fresh and aquatic, as many say, even cucumbery, but I love that aquatic cucumber touch. It sets it apart from most aquatics and yet makes it very unique. What Nautica does well is that it doesn't start off as sweet as most of its genre. The fresh, aquatic cucumber is joined by delicate spring flowers, some green plants and green apple. It is already a little sweet, but not strongly and very pleasantly so, and it becomes less so as it progresses. It is very round, soft and not so shower gel-like. I've often heard women in particular say after a hug: 'Mhhh, you smell so fresh' It's not necessarily sexy, but it's super clean. Well balanced, not too sweet and more green than fruity. A masculine aquatic. A little synthetic, but that doesn't bother me at all. A perfect pool scent that is somewhat reminiscent of a swimming pool. Matches well with a walk in the warm spring or summer by the stream or in the mountains. It has this cooling effect paired with this certain lightness. Also well suited for sports.

The fact that it's gone after 30 minutes is nonsense, but yes, the shelf life is pretty limited. Getting you through the whole day is not. But you can overspray it well without it penetrating others, and then it lasts for a few hours, but continuously loses strength. You can chalk that up to a shortcoming, I understand. But if you're aware of this, you'll reach for something else if you need a long-lasting monster.

It may not be the world's best designer aquat ever created and I have to wear it every day, but I think it's great. It's an uncomplicated companion and I appreciate that it's not as fruity as its modern cousins. I like wearing it and it makes me feel good. The price is great at around 20 euros. I bought mine online for 13 euros. So I can forgive it for its durability. But for the price, you can just as easily pack it in your bag or rucksack. So, screw it. For me, it comes off a little too badly here, the hype was not unjustified. For the niche hunter who always wants to smell super special, this is probably nothing. But it is for me!
