Rose Oud with plenty of both!
Having worn NEJMA TWO now through about one-third of my 100 ml bottle, I can say that I really love this perfume. The rose is voluptuous and the oud is detectable but not at all rank or rubbery or scary, as I have found some authentic oud notes to be. It might be that the oud is being tempered here by the sandalwood, but whatever the case, this simply smells great.

This particular combination of these notes reminds me a lot of some of the Montale rose oud perfumes. There is just a touch of the musty old attic scent in this composition (as in WHITE AOUD and LOUBAN), but it is more in the background and does not crowd out the rose or the oud in the least.

To me this is a perfect middle eastern rose scent: rich and full and opulent. Although I have criticized the oud madness currently underway, I truly believe that both Montale and Nejma know what they're doing and have earned the right to peddle their oud wares. Long after all of the fly-by-night niche houses and their pseudo-oud perfumes have been relegated to the dustbin of history, I expect Montale and Nejma to continue to produce their splendid and authentic middle eastern-inspired perfumes.

On my skin, the longevity of this creation is excellent. I love to wear NEJMA TWO to bed and awaken to the lush scent of dark roses wafting off my warm body in the morning. The scent does not decay or degrade over time, and even smells better eight hours after it is applied, as it seems to blend well with the natural scent of my skin.

An acquired taste...
I just had a close encouter with oud. And it was the fourth kind: abduction.

The opening i found it, frankly, sickening. My disclaimer, i believe it is the first time i am actually smelling oud in enough concentration. I felt literally punched in the stomach. Raw oud plus superconcentrated rose. Very unpleasant scent. Like turpertine, ether, animal glands, gasoline... on steriods. I cannot understand anything, is oud suppossed to smell like this always?

My immediate reaction was scrubbing my hand under hot water, but for the sake of knowledge, i decided to wait. I didnt have to wait long until the scary opening evaporated enough and the Nejma Two shines, no, GLOWS, in all its beauty. Is funny how now i cannot stop smelling the hand ten minutes ago i wanted to chop off and throw through the window.

For oud beginners as myself, i describe Nejma 2 as a very warm, sensual, oily scent: a velvet animalic rose in the very center, coiled up round herself, full bodied, more a contralto than a soprano, coated with the strange turpentine note, laying on a silky woods bed. Quite extraordinary and addictive.

So, note for future navigators, give it ten minutes before you develop an opinion, and spray outdoors, away from the people you love, until it settles.

Thank you K for this roller coaster ride!

Rosenrot
You are kind, not cheerful.
You are intense, not intrusive.
You are mature, not aged -
you are quiet, but not mute.

You are peaceful, not defenseless,
for your gentleness is not based on fear.
You are serious, yet not bitter.
You are - Rosenrot.

Rosenrot - the scent of the dark red rose in the garden of fragrances. It stands alone, needs little embellishment, and knows no superficialities. It wants to be worn with pride, but without arrogance. Its fragrance is given generously, albeit with its own restraint.

It will not be picked on a whim of roses. Only those who truly desire it, who have lost their heart to it, may one day call it their own. Its price is high; one must be willing to fight for it - yet I do not find it arrogant.

Rosenrot - for me, you are the most beautiful of all roses!

Only Horses Are Given the Mercy Shot!
And again a fragrance with the building blocks of oud and rose. Naturally, there are similarities to scents I have already tested. The greatest similarity is to Micallef's Rose Aoud. But there is a truly dominant difference here!

While Rose Aoud was a short tango in terms of longevity, Two by Nejma is a dance marathon, like those that were en vogue in the 1920s. For those who are upset or puzzled by my headline, I recommend the film with the above title! In this film, a couple tries to win a dance marathon during the expensive era to claim the prize money.

Anyone expecting a fragrance evolution will be disappointed by Two. Two smells of oud and rose, nothing more, nothing less! Sandalwood actually plays no significant role.
The balance between oud and rose is perfectly balanced, so neither has the olfactory disadvantage.

Conclusion: simple, but strikingly successful!

Dark Velvet Red
This small sample of the fragrance "Nejma Two" transports me to a "different world." Specifically, to a time long before ours, when roses still had a scent, and were not just beautiful to look at and "sterile."
Roses with thorns on the branches, towering high and climbing up wrought-iron fences.
These roses hold a secret that only reveals itself when you keep sniffing them over and over again.
I feel a thousand different nuances of a scent, bitter, fruity, deep, wide, bright, dark, full, transparent.... just to name a few.
And with "Nejma Two," above all, Red. Dark, velvety, and resonant, herbaceous, rosy, strong.
Just "Dark Velvet Shimmering Red" ... what a word, but the only fitting description for this fragrance, which, when sniffed long-term, leads to even deeper woody-earthy mysterious-patchouli-dark red rosy DEPTHS.
I am not exaggerating.... and it goes even deeper...
TRUE ROSES......

Deep red, slightly soapy roses grow on dark wood in spicy, damp earth. Dry rose red wine.
Later almondy - soft

Dark red velvet roses intertwined with soft cuddly oud are the stars here. Warm + spicy. Slightly soapy. Resting on damp earth in the dry down.

Someone definitely spilled a lot of refreshing rose water over the wood. A bit old-fashioned. Spice & patchouli are in there too. Strong!

A grand, epic rose monologue from elegant soap to slightly buttery. Oud only whispers in later moments.

Somewhat one-dimensional and dry, yet still very beautiful: Bitter + smoky-woody + balsamic Oud + Rose.

A cloud of rose scent surrounds me, but it feels foreign. Is it the blend? Despite the fine notes, it can travel.

Rose - dark burgundy. OudSandalPatch - soapy medicinal creamy. Powder in the base. Mature and feminine. Sexy? No. Erotic? Ooh yes...

Beautiful floral-spicy oud rose scent, but a bit too floral for me, more for women than unisex!!! HK+S totally in the green zone!!! :)

Rose and Oudh, not oudh-standing, but still too much Oudh for me. Rose deep, velvety. If you like this genre: here is a noble scent.
