Aquatic cucumber...
Judging by the name I’m pretty sure this was supposed to smell like rain, so the question is : did Demeter succeed in capturing the smell that so many people love ?

In short I’d say no. I mean it smells ok, opening with rather sharp floor cleaner notes but within a short period morphing into something sweet, slightly cucumber calone-like that ends up like so many other so-called aquatics. It’s rather fresh, soapy and clean and could easily be marketed as a unisex “cologne” in the vein of 4711 (or even a contemporary men’s beach scent) etc. without anyone raising an eyebrow.
It is very green to me and rather than rain, I envision leaves in a newly watered blooming garden.

Nothing to dislike, but a rather ordinary scent of chemical melon with a poor longevity.

Too citrusy to smell like rain
Okay, this really does not smell like rain to me.

For most of my life I lived in the country, so I know the scent of rain on either green or dry grass, gravel and forests. I also know what the scent of rain on pavements and roadsides smell like. While I don't mind the scent of rain, it's not a favourite.

Rain by Demeter strikes me as being too citrusy and watery. Natural rain has more of a musty smell. This trickery of a scent has a clean laundry kind of smell to it as well.

I'm somewhat disappointed seeing that I was only having a conversation with a friend the other day about bottling the scent of rain, and became rather excited about testing this. I can't get past the citrus layers.

Surprisingly Rain lasts a relatively long time, especially on the skin, which is rare for a Demeter scent. It's a pity that the lasting Demeter couldn't be a fragrance I liked.

Can Cameron Diaz be wrong?
It is always fun to read the different personal impressions about fragrances here at Parfumo.
I feel this especially with the Library of Fragrance fragrances, because they play with expectations in an extreme way.

In my previous commentary on "Zombie for Him" the starting position was clear. Earth, musty leaves, fungi. You got all that. A full pot
But what about the scent "Rain", which is actually hardly tangible from its name?

Rain is - if you break it down in the simplest way - simply defined.
-----Water-----

Well, The Library of Fragrance doesn't make it that easy after all.
It seems to me as if the creators of the fragrance had made a list of everything that comes across as "watery" in some form or another.

At the top of this list (in my opinion) must have been the core of the good old cucumber. That is, the core which is usually removed to keep the cucumber salad not too watery In addition, there is a minimal metallic undertone, which you feel every now and then when tapping the tap on the water.

In any case, "Rain" does not show earthy notes - like Petrichor for example" -
It is extremely light and airy, barely tangible but still perceptible.

I have noticed that many users of The Library of Fragrance are disappointed with the creations. But you can only be disappointed if you have certain expectations.
Many take the term far too seriously. But if we start to attach scents to the name, then "Cool Water" can pack in "Sauvage" and Co
I already know what the manufacturer wants to express with "Rain". Since rain is hard to define, they have done everything possible to make this fragrance look authentic
Some of you may wonder what my headline means.

Well, according to her own statement the good Cameron Diaz (besides Ben Stiller's "discharge" in her hair) ;) probably likes to wear this scent very much.
Just like Clint Eastwood's into dirt... NOW!

What does that tell us? Does the "Rain" make an outstanding perfume?

No, absolutely not. If you want to get your idea of getting rain in a bottle here and have an extremely watery, cucumbery scent as a short refreshment in between, you will certainly not be disappointed. All others unfortunately will be
Far be it from me to hypnotize the scents of "TLOF". But there are simply some bad ones (comments will follow).

Rain is not bad, but he is also not a revelation. Not a very durable one, because the scent evaporates after one hour at the latest, like rain falling on hot pavement.

For me "Rain" is a 6.5 out of 10, because he did not miss the topic and did everything to live up to his name. No more and no less

Aquatic cucumber, slightly sweetened but still very watery. As it dries down, the aldehydes sharpen and the sweetness fades/flattens.
