Here comes the tide
Before I started working with Demeter/The Library of Fragrance fragrances, the term "Petrichor" was completely foreign to me.
If I first thought of a silly marketing name, I had to be taught a better one quickly thanks to the Internet.
I would like to talk about the fragrance here and not too much about the name Petrichor.
If you are interested, you are welcome to do some research. The topic is very exciting and refers to smells that are created in the air when earth crackles on dry earth or rocks
This should suffice as a little background information. :)
Superficially - and quite apart from the incredibly interesting process that results - this EdC reflects exactly that.
Anyone who has perceived this scent when, after a long heat wave, the long-awaited rain finally pours down on the earth, has an approximate idea of "Petrichor".
To be honest, I already like the scent "Rain" by Demeter very much. I have worn Rain 4-5 times in the last week. Rain is also a fragrance that one looks at sceptically at first, but which gradually develops its fascination
I mention Rain, because this component also plays a major role in "Petrichor".
However, there are some more exciting components to be added.
Let me try to break it down like this. If one sprays the scent on happens the following:
-It is raining - no it is pouring. Almost torrential!
-The earth gets wet, one has the feeling that it is now steaming due to the previous heat
-This mixture of fragrances suddenly starts to smell green mossy-earthy. This is the most exciting phase, as it remains perceptible for the longest time,
-Finally a discreet spicy peppery fresh note emerges.
I've never smelled anything like it before.
With "Petrichor" Demeter/TLOF reflects everything they have planned to do, but in an exciting new way. So this is the perfect fragrance for me to change from summer to autumn.
Where "Rain" is a perfect scent for falling asleep, "Petrichor" is more complex and almost TOO exciting to fall asleep with. It is a wonderfully fresh, wet-green and earthy scent that has no equal
Friends of sweet scents will not enjoy this. Nothing about this fragrance is sweet
For my feeling Petrichor is quite unisex, ladies who have no problem with spicy earthiness will enjoy it here.
Thanks to the earthy notes, the shelf life is very good, especially for an EdC, and the sillage is clearly perceptible within a metre radius. For my taste (and job) this is perfect.
And again Demeter/TLOF has managed to fascinate me.
After I washed up here on Parfumo yesterday in a statement "Sour Apple Lollipop", I am back in the clear with Demeter :)
What they can easily do is to recount memories, sensations and natural scents.

I now understand how to classify the scents of Demeter. One should never take the scent names TO literally, then one can be disappointed.
But if you manage to think outside the box and sniff inside yourself to create images in your head, then you get a wonderful palette of extraordinary scents.
