Essential balsamic
Over the last dozen or so years, Oriflame has released three absolutely phenomenal women's fragrances. These are Mirage, Marcel and Amethyst Fatale. The withdrawal of all three is certainly a great loss for perfumery, because they were phenomenal fragrances not only in the mass market segment, they were the art of perfumery of the highest order.
Amethyst Fatale was the first of the big three, the creator of the fragrance was Francis Kurkdjian. He created an extremely essential, balsamic fragrance in which the main roles are played by the collaboration of the iris-rose duo, the rest of the ingredients are subordinated to these two, but also noticeable, especially in the later development of the composition.
I have the impression that the author was somehow inspired by the great work of Lalique Perles (Amethyst Fatale was published a year after the premiere of Perles). During the first few hours, you can feel the great similarity between these fragrances, mainly due to the same rose in both perfumes - cellar, smoky, dark, mysterious - accompanied by iris. However, Pearls are a cold and raw scent, while Amethyst Fatale is warm, passionate, intoxicating and sweet.
The beginning of the composition is a strong woody hit of powdery rose, delicately spiced with pepper and red fruits, and then for the next 3-4 hours we have a beautiful rose-iris concert delicately sweetened with sandalwood, the powderiness of the iris softens with time and we feel a delicious rose jam.
After about 4 hours, the scent softens slightly, the rose and iris recede and a wonderfully creamy, balsamic base emerges. A musky-amber base with slightly chocolate patchouli and a vanilla aftertaste, and it lasts for a good few hours.
The parameters on my skin are really great, initially the projection is very high, after about 2 hours it becomes moderate and the scent is very noticeable for about 7 hours. However, when applied close to the skin, it stays on the skin all day long. The purple color perfectly matches the mysterious aura of the fragrance.
Amethyst fatale is a strong and expressive fragrance, mysterious and disturbing, in my opinion even slightly unisex, despite the powderiness of iris and feminine rose, it has some masculine element.
If you have the opportunity, test it because it's worth it!
