Transformable Wonder Water
Scirocco is a fragrance that has such a transformable scent progression for me like hardly any other. When sprayed, it is dark and masculine; the only perceivable notes are really patchouli and a bit of cardamom. At this point, one inevitably wonders why Scirocco is declared a unisex fragrance, as the opening is rather brutal and not at all sweet or citrusy (which one might expect from the bergamot listed in the top notes).

After the harsh and somewhat smoky opening, the patchouli-like note suddenly and abruptly disappears entirely, and now the fragrance becomes sweeter and more feminine. It turns floral; I somehow perceive lily, even though it is not listed in the notes. In the background, ginger makes its presence known, adding a spicy, very slightly citrus undertone to the floral notes (perhaps the bergamot is finally showing itself). Overall, I also perceive a green undertone, which I unfortunately cannot quite place. Additionally, even in this phase, the fragrance seems to constantly change, and no matter how often I smell it, I always perceive a slightly different scent composition. Perhaps it is the desert wind that is swirling the scent notes around.

For me, Scirocco is a fragrance that I have to feel like wearing. It is not a scent that I can just spray on casually; I find it somehow too unique and also somewhat demanding due to the constant changes, even if that sounds strange. As the vetiver slowly but surely makes its way to the surface, I also find that it can be worn much better by men than by women, although such views are actually somewhat outdated by now.

Yes, I think Scirocco is great, but I have no idea when I should wear it. At work or in my free time, I want something lighter. In the evening and for going out, I want something more feminine. I also love my Encre Noir; I find it fantastic in the autumn when I am in a slightly melancholic mood, but for Scirocco, my mood would have to change as quickly as the fragrance does, and that just doesn’t work.

For me, Scirocco is a truly fascinating fragrance that unfortunately is not entirely suitable for everyday wear - otherwise, it would have received a full 100%.

How does one approach such a fragrance - when one is quite new to Parfumo and fascinated by the incredible eloquence of some professionals on this platform?

Cautiously in any case. Just don’t pretend to have knowledge that simply isn’t (yet) there. As honestly and openly as possible, even if the masters of the perfume fans wrinkle their noses at the comparisons drawn...

Thanks to the extraordinarily friendly and knowledgeable Michelangela, I have come into possession of a generous sample of this extraordinarily beautiful fragrance. I could hug her for that.

Scirocco by Paolo Gigli is simply (for now) the best I have ever smelled. For me, it is a brilliant evolution of my previous favorite fragrance, Heritage by Guerlain. The Saharan wind casually surpasses Obsession for Men by Calvin Klein and Zino by Davidoff, both of which I also like very much. Yes, yes, I know these comparisons may be flawed, but that’s how I feel.

The fragrance pyramid of Scirocco is one hundred percent my thing. In addition to the listed ingredients, I also perceive a spicy berry (blackberry?) and in the brilliant base note, a hint of vanilla. The cedarwood, which I love so much, is perfectly dosed. Absolutely delicious! For me, this is the ultimate feel-good fragrance for the time being. I can hardly keep my nose off my wrists.

Of course, I am also a realist. Naturally, I did a little research on the internet. I don’t want to regurgitate the lyrical statements about the mentioned Sahara wind (and the other three). However, my concern that this is a true treasure (especially from the perspective of cold hard cash) has been confirmed - as has often been the case lately. All the more, I thank Michelangela for providing me with this unique fragrance experience.

A successful patchouli scent that mainly highlights the fruity-green aspects.

Woody, floral, powdery, and sweetly creamy. Well-rounded and high-quality composition, but somehow the scent doesn't touch me, doesn't seem to fit me.

In the dry down, a bit of Ambre Précieux, otherwise a very nice, elegant unisex fragrance - the scent pyramid fits! Moderate sillage, but top longevity!
